AKURE — A middle aged woman has been arrested for killing a two-year-old boy, Toluwalase Fadahunsi, in Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The deceased was said to have been killed while sleeping.

The suspect, popularly known as Madam Ajayi, reportedly murdered the boy by smashing a bottle on his head, Tuesday.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased was sleeping on his mother, Mrs Iyabo Fadahunsi’s bed.

Ajayi was alleged to have sneaked into the room where Toluwalase was sleeping to commit the crime.

The boy’s cry attracted her mother who rushed into the room to find his him in a pool of his blood.

Before help could come from neighbours the boy reportedly died as a result of the impact of the bottle on his head.

The mother’s cries was said to have attracted neighbours who rushed to the house. The suspect’s attempt to escape was thwarted. She was reportedly beaten blue-black.

The suspect who was later rescued from the angry mob and handed over to the police in Iju/Itaogbolu said she did not know what she had done nor what made her do it.

Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for investigation.
