Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by hopefully: 6:10pm On May 17, 2011 |
Can someone please help? I applied for a 6 months uk visa about a week ago but was refused just because I did not state that I was refused a visa in 2007 - This was an error of oversight as I did not have any intention of concealing this information. I didn’t change my date of birth or name. It was really an oversight. I have been given a limited right of appeal can someone please advise if I should appeal or re-apply and what should be stated in the application. Please this is not a time for casting stones as I already know that it was really a silly mistake. All I need now is a honest advise. Thanks in advance for your help. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Vicjustice: 12:11am On May 18, 2011 |
hopefully:What do you mean by you "have been given a limited right of appeal", are you sure you're not misunderstanding the terminology " this application does not attract the full rights of appeal "? If the latter is what is written in your refusal letter, then Know that when the UK embassy says "This application does not attract full rights of appeal" they are therefore using this terminology to state that the application has absolutely NO RIGHTS OF APPEAL in a polite manner: So, you must have the full rights of appeal to be eligible to make the appeal. Now, the omission that you made is very likely to result in subsequent visa refusals because, the UK embassy now considers you a dishonest desperate applicant who poses immigration risk and can not be trusted with a visa. So, unless there is a very compelling reason to issue you the visa, you're more likely to be refused again, so your best option is to appeal the refusal. |

Can i still include 5300 pounds even if my MSc course runs for 60weeks (15 months)?? Pls advice. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by justwise(m): 2:05pm On May 19, 2011 |
rapheal2k9: Please can u explain what u mean by including £5300? Msc courses are normally one yr duration, Sept to Sept. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Xorcyst(m): 2:42pm On May 19, 2011 |
rapheal2k9: If you can show the funds in your account for the required period of 28 days, u do not need to include your sponsors account unless all the funds are not present in your account alone. hope you know your sponsor should be same surname relatives (preferably parents) if individual or corporate/ government. My advice, if it is possible to have all the required funds in your account for the period, that will suffice. the burden of proof on source of funds is no longer there, so it should not be a problem Regards |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by rapheal2k9: 8:01pm On May 19, 2011 |
@Xorcyst thanks for your reply, Does the account have to be a newly opened account or can it be my normal DOM account? Also does it matter if it is in dollars? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by rapheal2k9: 8:04pm On May 19, 2011 |
@ justwise, my course runs for 60 weeks according to the University. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Xorcyst(m): 8:43pm On May 19, 2011 |
rapheal2k9: It has become common practice to give an account of at least 6 months old (im just telling it as i did), why is it a DOM account youre using tho? and r u trying to get entry to the UK or the US as i can see you r quoting dollars, a new account is however not necessary and rather suspicious |

Xorcyst: Are u talking abt account for UK student visa or what? 1 Like |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Xorcyst(m): 10:06pm On May 19, 2011 |
justwise: @ Justwise i believe the dude is asking about his UK visa application as regards the account to be submitted. if it should be a new account, n i stated the duration of the acct i used, which i made known there, yes, i am refering to statements for getting a UK study visa |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by justwise(m): 10:09pm On May 19, 2011 |
Xorcyst: . . .but the UK student visa rule stated that the money should be in an account for 28days and not more than one month after the 28days? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Xorcyst(m): 10:19pm On May 19, 2011 |
Xorcyst:@ just wise, if u go thru my quoted post u can see i agree on that fact. i am talking about the age of the account now. he was asking if he needed to open a new account n i was trying to make a point that a new account was unnecessary, and may be will draw suspicion, an account that has been in existence prior to the lodgement of funds is more desirable, 6 months might not b necessary but it atleast proves ownership of account apriori intent to travel |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 4:07pm On May 24, 2011 |
spearlzz:Are you applying to the British Embassy in Turkey for a UK Visas? What "sometimes" happens with issues of name change is to include a self adressed letter to the ECO, raising the issues, then include all original copies of official documents to back up your claims. You do not have to give reason for the change of name, as long as you provide official documents that can be verified. Do not forget to state the obvious - that you were refused in 2007 like you said, and that you also understand the weight penalty of misrepresentation according to the UK Immigration rules - include the relevant sections of the rules in your letter. LET ME RE-EMPHASIZE THAT YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO ATTACH WITH THE LETTER MUST BE ORIGINALS WITH VERIFIABLE ADDRESS. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 4:21pm On May 24, 2011 |
steph7:To answer your question - Yes you need to present a letter from NYSC, including your call up letter which will help the ECO to verify that your NYSC letter is genuine. As for your other suggestions, in my own opinion, that would be a big risk unless you can demonstrate by a way of 'letter of employment' and 'Bank Statement' showing to that effectyour SALARY HISTORY. This helps the ECO assess your financial status and also help him to ascertain your tie to nigeria. Two very vital aspects that influences issuance of visit visas by ECO. If you can not demonstrate those two requirements, then you are placing yourself in line for 10years ban for deception! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 9:06pm On May 24, 2011 |
but won't I be able to get it since I'm travelling with my parents and they are the ones sponsoring the trip, and what of my sister who just graduated from school and is doing her NYSC in November, she won't be able to present any letter from either school or NYSC. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by spearlzz: 9:09pm On May 24, 2011 |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 1:21pm On May 28, 2011 |
Slyp:I would strongly advise you leave your account intact! Do not add or remove anything until your visas application has been processed. Withdrawing any amount at the last minute will flag the ECO to think you decided to build up your account using funds elsewhere just to meet the financial requirements under the PBS. Also print your statement a day before you are going to submit, futher, ask your bank to give you a letter written on the bank's letter head covering the bank statement stating to that effect the amount in the account for the past 28days to the date of print and make sure it is duly signed off and the letter should have a correspondence whom the ECO can easily call to verify the account. This was what I helped someone to do very recently and lo, the ECO called the bank, and he spoke to the person who addressed the letter and in less than 14days visas was approved and collected! The man who the ECO spoke to happened to be the branch manager who issued the letter and he said the ECO even asked him if the account got withdrawals after certain dates! Ask your bank for the letter, many nigerian banks are now farmiliar with issuing letters for BHC. And please do not withdraw any money from your account! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by justwise(m): 1:30pm On May 28, 2011 |
To add to what Omo_Tier1 have said, make sure that the print out has closing balance, if the print out from ur bank doesn't show closing balance then make little payment into ur account after the 28days so as to show the closing balance. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 1:50pm On May 28, 2011 |
steph7:It will be difficult but not impossible to convince the ECO of your intention to return to Nigeria after your visit by adding a note to your application form explaining to the ECO. Using your dad's company MAY risk you been given the 10yr ban hammer. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by OmoTier1(m): 1:58pm On May 28, 2011 |
spearlzz:That could flag a red depending on the weight of the other documents you are also providing. Why not do a sworn change of name in turkey using the documentary evidence you have with you? |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries by justwise(m): 6:16pm On May 28, 2011 |
Slyp: Let me put it this way: If your bank statement print out does not show end or closing date then the ECO will not know if that money has stayed 28days in that account, quite alot of pple here last yr had that prob, so what they did was to make a little payment into their account after the 28days then print the statement. You don't need to do this if ur bank statement shows start and end date. |
