hello programmers on nairaland, my name is Howard as you can well see on my handle. am creating this new Web-based business and i was wondering if it was okay so i want to ask you guys what you think. . So here i am. please i need your honest appraisals. thanks alot.

The idea is to build an online local market-place for the hiring of talented people,
professionals or in fact anybody with needed abilities/services.

Its a website that enables anyone who has an ability or can do any
stuff, state their talents/abilities/passions and use their profile as
an online business page and people who need their services coming to
search for them. Imagine you need a home teacher for your child and
all you have to do is search for someone you need. or an event planner or others.

I think this might be a kind of social stuff not really for profit,
that will enable people look to themselves and say 'what can i do or
know how to do that people will need and can earn me some money' and
hopefully provoking enterprising thoughts in them.


So what do you guys think?

i think that will be solved by showcasing other users reviews and rating.
and also, the network effect might grow just like all this online money making schemes(.just that this isnt sheer fraud.)

very good concept, but the majority o the work will be on your web developer. So here is my review

1) You can borrow a lot from linkedIn for this

2) Secondly focus on business networking socially and the social thingy will take care of itself. If you start providing people with too much means of socializing in a non business way then the site will be defaced and you could loose ur traffic.

3) Thirdly, you need to base the usage of the site on a point system. If someone refers another person to a job give dem some points, if someone does a job well award them some points (let the users fill a satisfaction form after use)

4) Fourthly, create a facebook app that lets users post pages of another person on fbook. Look for something that will make users want to help others post their skills maybe points also.

bro dere are a thousand and one ways to adevertise, just google it. try the low budget means first like commenting in blogs, on several forums, url exchange with othr sites, try seo also. u just need strategy

Ur idea already exist, linkedln and maybe jobberman, and it is a larger network besides i dont think people with simple skills and lookin for somethin to do will just come to your site and fill a form you need partners willing to hire people and good ad which will cost you.
I like ur web design if its not a template and i'm lookin for someone to work on somtin wit if u r intrested.

Well, I don't think a programmer should think of ideas, that's the job of an entrepreneur.

And, its the programmers, job to implement and make such ideas a reality.

You need a strong businesses streak to think of apps or projects that will be worthwhile.

Let's assume your a businessman, will you spend a million bucks trying to build another Facebook,fiverr or twitter or spend it building something nobody else has built or built properly.

You need to remember codes are worthless if no one executes them.

To build a succesfull start you need to address a problems, not one in fiction but a problem you experience in daily live and then figure out if people will appreciate such a solution.

Build stuff that will change the lives of humans not because it sounds good on paper but because. It is a solution to a real problem.

With that said,ur idea sucks!
