A member of the House of Representatives; Joseph Kigbu on Thursday urged the House to appeal to authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to forgive the militia group; Ombatse, that killed over 60 police officers in an ambush in Nasarawa state.

Representative Kigbu urged the militia to embrace peace and find an amicable solution to the crisis that has claimed an untold number of lives.

The House leadership also urged the force to let go of any plan to retaliate against the killing its personnel by a suspected cult group.

Lawmakers condemned the attack on the police officers who were ambushed on a mission to dislodge the group, but urged restraint. They pledged to institute a team to reach out to the spouses of the slain officers.

Leading the debate on the killings, Mr Kigbu stated that within six months, the state has lost many people as a result of similar clashes.

He urged the federal government and Nasarawa state government to dialogue with the group involved in the killings instead of retaliating.

“We cannot condone it anymore as the crisis if not checked will stretch to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” Mr. Haruna warned.

Though the call by the legislators is good, but perpetrators of such acts should not go scot-free as it signpost dangerous trend to other splinter militia and ethnic divide and subsequenlty tilt the nations towards lawlessness for constituted authority.

those calling for forgiveness on this very issue must be high on something. let them try and put themselves into the shoes of the bereaved family members. in the first place, what moral justification does those criminals have to attack a constituted authority?. and what has human right said about the killing of security agencies, or is it that they don't have human right?

Nigeria is indeed turning into a jungle. Very soon they will ask for amnesty. Amnesty for Ombaste cult; why not when Boko Haram was granted amnesty. When not Boko Haram when MEND was granted amnesty. And why not MEND when Alameisigha was granted amnesty, and the list goes on.

Do we still have a government in the country? I just asked!

Nigeria is fu'c'ked if these are kind of lawmakers elected to make laws for them.Does this guy really know the function of the police and the consequences of the action of these militia ? There is only one option available ie deployment of military to crush these internal aggressors who have challenged the authority and sovereignity of the state by killing the policemen.

The lawmaker should be arrested and prosecuted as an accomplice to treasonable felony.

The government should grant the Ombatse Militia amnesty.
If boko haram can be granted amnesty, they equally deserve it too.
Boko haram kills soldiers, Ombatse Militia has not killed soldiers
boko haram kills prison wardens, Ombatse Militia has not killed prison wardens
boko haram bombs churches,UN buildings, markets, Ombatse Militia does not bomb anywhere
boko haram opens fire on civilians in public, Ombatse Militia only kills fulani herdsmen and niger/chadian mercenaries
boko haram kills policemen, Ombatse Militia kills policemen.
Unless GEJ wants them to join boko haram in wanton killings, they should be granted amnesty now or recruited by GEJ to fight boko haram since they are not affected by bullets and have managed to repel fulani herdsmen who are on a reign of terror in the middle belt.
Because they are not from the core north does not mean they should be discriminated against.
