There are possible indications that President Goodluck Jonathan might have concluded plans to offload four ministers from his cabinet in a reshuffle that is about to take place this month.

The four ministers-Elders Godsday Orubebe, Mr. Bala Muhammad, Stella Odua and Labaran Maku, are said to have indicated interest in the 2015 election and had obtained the tacit approval of Mr. President to proceed with the process of contesting the gubernatorial elections in their respective states.

A competent source told Vanguard that the cabinet reshuffle, the first major one to be undertaken by President Jonathan since coming into office after the 2011 election, is planned to mark the second anniversary of his administration and to pave the way for those with higher political ambition to actualise their plans.

Is this a news?

If GEJ doesn't drop them, they will surely drop themselves since they are having a political ambition to dedicate their time to.

If he really wanna do a cabinet reshuffle, he should drop Alison Diezani Madueke and those that aren't having any political ambition!

As long as his concubine remains in his cabinet, who cares about the ministers to be dropped? I don't think i care.

Even if there is an eminent cabinet reshuffle, I doubt if these are the four ministers that'll be off loaded. Again, the GEJ govt loves to make such big decisions a SURPRISE package. My impression is that there may be impending cabinet reshuffle but DEFINITELY not as speculated by Vanguard.

I'm not even aware of any gubernatorial ambition of Stella Oduah. And she's one of the stars of this govt

GEJ does not have balls to pull that kind of stunt, the ministers are the ones dumping him. Cabinet reshuffle ko, when GEJ himself needs to be reshuffled.

How far with this report by Vanguard?

When this report broke, my position was that when GEJ will drop some ministers, no one would know let alone knowing the names of ministers that will be dropped. That is how GEJ does his things.

Some of these media organisations should be made to apologise for their baseless reports.

I also think frequent changing of ministers is not the best. Ministers should be allowed enough time to carry out their programmes and policies and achieve results. The exception would be ministers that have been indicted for corruption or for breach of trust.

By the way, I just saw an old thread (2008) where Former President Yar Adua dropped 20 ministers at a go

Incredible! That should have been listed in the Guiness Book Of World Record. 20 ministers dropped at the same time, by a regime that was still in power? Crazy! What was Yar Adua thinking when he was appointing those dead woods into his govt? How would the country make progress in the face of such tsunamis and at that rate and magnitude? Little wonder the Yar Adua regime was colourless and all motion without movement.
