Aporia by Nobody: 12:33am On May 20, 2013
The sweet scent of happiness
fills the home
Oozing from her faint smiles
Laughter adorn the home
With resonating smiles

Her shrieks wake up the neighbours
with horror they stare
Understanding evades their reasoning
Gloom wraps their stare
With frustration thick enough to chop

Out of exhaustion she sleeps
I lie beside her, eyes wide
Fearing when she wakes up
Joy has eloped far and wide
I search with dimming hope

Morning brings sparse relief
The bitter stench of sorrow
fills the home
Gloping from her cold face
Wails adorn the home
With resonating cries.

Decided to try out writing a poem. Didn't want any of the easy themes-joy, love and so on.

To appreciate this poem, one needs to know the meaning of aporia and be able to relate it to the stanzas.

Made use of rhyme, repetition, euphemism(I guess) and some others I can't search out now as I'm tired and sleepy.

The theme of the poem is sickle cell and the emotional trauma that the sufferer and immediate family and neighbours suffer. The poem is narrated by a mother that just lost her sick child.

I don't know if I got it right but the whole poem should be a flash back...well I'm very rusty now...bla, bla, bla....over to the house.
