Mekky2010: Its Umuigbo and NOT Rumuigbo, time to stop/correct all these unnecessary misspellings in PH.. E be like U don forget say na when civil war end 1971 wey Ikwerres reclaim their land from Michael Okpara and his railway crew wey nearly hijack PH. Thanks to Senate President, David Mark wey help Ikwerres reclaim their properties at the end of the war. For the records, their's Rumueme, Rumuepirikom, Rumuokwuta, Rumuigbo, Rumuokoro, Rumuodara, Rumukwurusi, Rumuogba, Rumuobiakani, Rumuomasi, Rumuola, etc as towns in and around Port Harcourt...if the "R" is missing, guy Ikwerres go reject am because you don turn am to Igbo name... Go ask Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi (an Ikwerre Man) or Nyesom Wike (also an Ikwerre man) or betterstill, Tonto Dike (an Ikwerre girl from Aluu) make dem explain better to you |

chris51: @ mekky2010. The correct pronounciation is RUMUIGBO & not Umuigbo as you are trying to correct. That's my areaThose who grew up in that area when it was called Umuigbo will continue to call it Umuigbo. It is just as my uncle calls the old Bendel (now Edo/Delta) Mid west till date. Now, lets seek for ways to tackle this ugly scourge not pronunciation. 1 Like |

u see eh datz y an alliance between the Ikwerre and Igbo won't see the light of the day. why are the Igbos tryn so hard to 'colonize' the minority Ikwerre? during the civil war it was documented that the igbos forced the Ikwerres to speak the igbo dialect as a replacement for the Ikwerre language..... we will not succumb!!!! leave us to speak our dialect, though similar but still unique thanks to the tower of babel! laha na azu. Mekky2010: Its funny how sometimes people make comments without prior knowledge of issues. Its like seeing people from Ngwa bearing Iheoma or Homa and asking them to revert it to Ifeoma which is the most common version of same name. We should learn to respect each other or we end up creating unnecessary enmity. Some Ikwerres use "Umu"/"Omu" but not Obio/Akpo and Port Harcourt. |

Amaechi is trying in term of road construction and rehabilitation in the Garden City but some areas are still to be touched such as: Rivon Clinic-Genesis-Estate-Old Aba Road Ring Road. There are terrible potholes and drainage channels are in terrible shape. But let the people give the Governor peace of mind to re-dedicate himself to the service of the people. Gov. Amaechi you're please invited to run these areas of Rumuogba Estate on your power bike. God bless the people of Rivers State and our Governor![b]Rt. Hon. R. You are just wasting your time correcting people here. Serious minded people up there don't care about this nonsense you are spilling here. Can you tell a motorist in Port Harcourt that you want to go to Umuigbo and then he turns up and say that the place doesn't exist. You will still get to your destination just like a man going to Onicha will still get to his destination despite the fact it is spelt as Onitsha. 1 Like |
