Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has threatened to arrest idle youths and those who refused to be enrolled in the“Youths Must Work”programme, which he launched yesterday.

He also threatened to arrest youths who engage in indecent dressing, such as ‘sagging’.

In order to avoid arrest, the governor said the youths should obtain Imo“Youths Must Work”forms from the lawmakers representing their constituencies in the Imo State House of Assembly, indicating their areas of interest.

He assured that those who would be involved in agricultural jobs, especially farming, would be adequately taken care of, while those that are not interested in other jobs would be engaged.

To this end, he has promised to speak to private and public agencies, ministries and parastatals to get youths something doing while waiting for their ideal jobs.

Governor Okorocha said he decided to set up this programme in line with his electioneering promises in 2011 governorship elections.

Some youths who listened to the Governor’s speech were not happy that he laid emphasis on the agricultural aspect of the job and“sagging”, which they particularly said had nothing do with job creation.

At the inception of Governor Okorocha’s administration, he had cancelled the 10,000 job creation scheme of his predecessor, Sir Ikedi Ohakim, saying it was bedeviled with fraud.

Caveman-era, village-chief megalomania. Where are the laws that empower him to "arrest" people who engage in "indecent" dressing? Where and how does the law define "indecent dressing"? Some of these oafs think themselves all-powerful when they find themselves in these fleeting positions of authority. Bloody clowns.

The youths too should treaten to sue him if he violates their fundamental human right or freedom of association or whatever name they can call it. Then it will become a case of 'threat for threat' and the matter will just go down low.

This man Okorocha is getting involved with the people directly. He is close to the traditional rulers, youths, market women etc.. And every bigot here is complaining and condemning..
