I suddenly develop this love for dreadlocks,am about to get one,my question goes to people with dreads, what's the challenges like? in terms of maintenance and stress that might come with it, do you pour water on it when taken your bath? How often do you visit a salon to refresh it? Is it necessary to visit a salon? Can you do what the salon can do in your house? Please don't advice me about what society may think of me cause I no send any human being |

I have been growing dreadlocks for 8 months now. It is the greatest test in patience! If you want nice locks, start with completely natural hair; relaxed hair would be a disaster except you want sisterlocks(extremely tiny locs which are equally extremely expensive to maintain). Also, make sure to visit a loctician for the beginning of your locks journey. Dirty locks won't dread; so make sure to wash your locks at least once a month plus avoid too many products as these would lead to build-up and cause your locs to look weird. Hope I helped. Keep me posted about your natural hair journey! |

Dreadlocks are like any other hairstyles e.g brazilian hair, pro 10,etc., even though they cannot be compared cos locks are unique and incomparable. You don't pour water on your locs like that o! It's an hairstyle nah so for the sake of keeping bugs away from your locs, wash at least once a month with residue free shampoo and nourish with essential oils (avoid petrolatum o). Sister locs are usually verytiny dreads. I prefer normal sized locs(medium size) |
