Damilola Banire, Iya Afin Miliki is a household name to lovers of Miliki Express shown on Orisu TV of Startimes. Aside being a Presenter, she is also an upcoming Yoruba actress that is growing swift. This wonderful lady didn’t stop at being a screen diva as she proceed to set up her own event planning organisation. In this interview session with ADENIKE ASHOGBON, she lays bares all that relates with her, her life, passion, personal business concept and what she hope to achieve from the industry.

What is your Organisation all about?

Dainty Events and Services is a registered event planning management and consultancy company.

We specialise in both indoor and outdoor Events, either social or corporate.

We plan events in d progression from theme to sketch paperwork and to reality.

We manage events on all organisational aspects

We also offer budgeting and idea consulting.

Dainty Events & Services was born out of Amiable Usherettes services in 2009, with well managed events records of over 50.

We aim to solely take burdens of planning off our esteemed clients, with the nitty gritty of our professionalism, thus leaving you to look forward your event date.

How did the organisation come into being?

Its came into being through amiable usherettes, the love for planning & putting things in order. It has been encouraging, only that some people still do not see the need of a professional planner, after d event flops they blame some family member or the other!

Let us know more about the personality behind the brand Dainty Events and Services, what makes you this mind blowing?

Hummmmmmmmm, well, I will say I am an easy person, extrovert to the core, very spontaneous, I love to work, not just work, I work hard, I never relent in my efforts.

I will say I have been able to build my life through everyday theory and practical, and God has amazed me thus far, both in my business and chosen career

How does it feel like managing a career and a life?

They are two opposite ends, because sometimes one is in a career that does not suit his personal life. So it has been quite easy because I found myself doing what my life suits, so merging both has been wonderful.

Be more practical on that

Managing a career is not as easy as managing one’s life, and really if one is of many parts managing one’s life is a greater task.

Like when I was working in the bank, being a playful person, I discovered that that job so shelved me that when I talk & people laugh, the next thing they say is “you are never serious” because they were all serious people. Not like I did not love the job, but I could not manage my personal life in that career, so I moved my cheese!

You are in the showbiz business, is there anything you feel should be improved?

I have never had a worse memory because I am a playful person, and I do not get to brood over spilt milk… Though one or two, but I will not say it is worse, it is just one of the challenges of being a public person or an entertainer!

Every moment has been wonderful, no particular one, but I will say as a TV presenter, Jan 1, 2013 was one of d best, as I got a call from my fan in Kaduna, and I was really impressed, I think at that point I knew people watch the program… So I knew it would be a wonderful year 4 me in TV

Okay, so nothing disgusting in terms of encounter with your guest even after the show? Thus far…

I will not say disgusting, everybody just looks at me and I know the next thing in their head is that they would have used their imagination to UnCloth me.

The disgusting things could be what they say, but because of our kind of job, we do not count words, an introvert cannot work in the media. So I do not think of it

Ok for people who have negative mentality about those in media and showbiz what is your word to them?

My word to such people, hummmmmm, for the fact that we act a way on TV either presentation or movie does not say we are that character, we have a director who says this is what I want you to do, I remember when I first met my boss, Bimbo Ogunsanya, the day he stylishly auditioned me, he was just giving me different characters like talk bitchy, act like a prostitute etc, I had to do it because I must deliver to show the professionalism of Mass Communication in me, so in essence do not judge people on TV because of the way you see them, most of us are far from characters we play!
