isuomo: Didn't know that Christians now carry the title Alhaji as well because as far as I know Danbaba Suntai is a practicing Christian and I have worshipped with him a few times in Jalingo in the course of my official trips to the place. A nice man indeed but I know he no longer has the capacity to rule the state and ought to have been replaced a long time ago. Funny thing about the man is that he actually hails from Suntai village in Taraba state and that place is known as the muslim bastion of Taraba state how he became a Christian is still a mystery.You are right, he is a practising christian. However Suntai village is not a known muslim 'bastion' there are very few muslims in suntai. its a predominantly christian town. |

If i recall correctly. This guy has bin incapacitated for over 6 months and these PDP people have bin deceiving themselves over is supposed ability to continue to govern the state. Do we need the PDP to decide wheter a man incapacitated or not shuld govern a state.Dont we have constitutional provisions to take care of this without much rancour. An active gov who is on his two feet and very much alive gets suspended jut because he is not in the good books of the party hierachy and the one that has bin brain dead for over 6 months is enjoying all manner of protection just because he is in the party's good books. Mad Cow: The Deputy Governor automatically becaomes the Governor. Please dont drag the president into this.The issue is simple enuf and all it requires is tht the State House of assembly should apply the contitution to solve this. Its just PDP and there criminally minded patrons who are trying to dabaru the whole thng. |

No constitutional provision to remove Suntai as gov –Bwacha Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, a former member of the House of Representatives, is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture. In this interview with GEORGE OJI, he speaks on why Taraba State governor, Danfulani Suntai still remains as the chief executive officer of the state and the future of the North. Excerpts: Governor Suntai has been out for more than six months following his accident in a plane crash, don’t you feel it is time for the deputy governor to be sworn in as the substantive governor? Is that what the law says? Do you know what the constitution says? What the constitution says is once the governor is absent for more than three weeks, the deputy governor assumes the position of acting governor. And as acting governor, he does virtually everything the governor does. The law does not tell us the specific time when the governor is not there that the acting governor become a substantive governor. If the governor is away for a treatment, which is understandable and no provision is made about the governor not returning, except if you are saying that the National Assembly should make a law that once the governor is away for one month let him be removed as governor. But is there any specific duty that the governor performs that the acting governor cannot perform? I remember very well immediately after the plane crash when the police commisioner of that state said the governor only had minor injuries and if the governor were just ordinary citizen, he would have been discharged from the hospital. But what are we seeing today, a very worse condition. May God grant him good health |
