Etisalat, one of the most innovative
telecommunications companies in Nigeria, has
pledged to support the growth of app developers
as well as technology start-ups in the country.
Speaking during the just concluded Mobile Web
West Africa 2013 Conference in Lagos, the
company’s Data Marketing Manager, Bankole Alao
said that Etisalat reckons that as an operator, one
of its responsibilities is to roll out services that
respond to customers’ needs.
Since consumers need content and apps to be
available on their mobile devices, the company
plans to enable a viable app ecosystem so that
developers can create content and apps for its
growing customer base. As such, Etisalat
is continuously looking out for opportunities to
partner with organizations and forums that
champion innovation in technology.
According to Alao, “Etisalat has one of the best
revenue-sharing formulas in the industry today,
so we encourage start-ups that are interested in
pushing their ideas to a tech savvy market to
come talk to us so together we can make it
happen.”
Mobile Web West Africa is highly reputed for
triggering insightful discussions, often forming
the nucleus of strategies of mobile operators, app
developers, value add service providers and
OEMs.
The event attracts thought leaders in the mobile
web industry from around the world including
several African countries, with representatives
from key industry players including such as
Google, Qualcomm and Blackberry.
This year, Etisalat Nigeria deepened its
participation in the mobile web industry once
again as one of the sponsors of the 2013 edition.
