Some say it is a harmless forum for like minded state executive s. I say it is a forum where the 36 most powerful men in the country points a loaded weapon on a sitting terrified President telling him to implement their wishes whilst not forgetting to sign the dotted lines. That to me does not look or sound like a harmless association of like minded fellows. The NGF has won every battle against the President. Hence the reason why it has become politicised.

The President wants his own man and his own motley crew in that Gentlemmen's club. I don't blame Goodluck Jonathan since he became Acting President the NGF has been a torn in the flesh. The President realise a bit too late that getting this esteem club behind him would not only make him sleep well at night it would also auger well in times of political expedeincy.

I must give to it to GEJ though, for now knowing the latent power of this forum. It takes a well educated and inciteful person to no the dynamics of power in present day Nigeria, even as powerful as OBJ was this esteemed Forum told him his 3rd term Agenda well b4 it got to the Senate & the House of Reps was dead on arrivals.

Going forward any would be future President would not only make sure their man is the Chairman of this forum they will also make sure they have the numbers within the forum to thawrth any would be unfavourable policy to the Government of the day.

What makes this forum even more deadly is their unconstituionality they cannot be held responsible for decisions made since they are a mirage, they exist as a Gentlemen 's club. Take the petrol price hike of last year they all agreed with Mr President but when the troubles started they withdrew into their shell making the buck stop at the President's table.

The independence of the LG'S will not see the light of day because of this powerful forum.

They keep on depleting our sovereign wealth fund because of their insatiable hunger for more funds yet no meaningful or commensurate development in the states.

They shot state creation to pieces.

Jonathan's one term of 7 years was rejected outstandinginly.

They control their state senators and reps men.

They choose would be ministers From their states for Mr President.

They are in full control of the LG'S in their states. Many LG have caretakers no elected LG officials.

By virtue of the fact that Nigeria is a federation all the power should be with the governors in the first place so they are technically fighting for something that should be theirs by default.

Local Government autonomy is like communism, it is a good idea in theory but it fails to work in practice and practice is what matters.

The presidents war with Amaechi dispels any thought that he is sitting terrified, the constitution makes him an emperor in Nigeria.

The President's fight with Amechi is Amechi 's undoing, Amechi does not need to take on the President because there is power in unity, once a house is divided they lose their potency the President with his awesome power would be reduced to a liliput once 36 men gang up against him. Amechi by taken on the president on his own has de-mystify the auraness of this all powerful forum. Amechi has given the president a respite by taken on him which is a terrible mistake by him.

Another mistake the forum made was allowing Amechi to run for a second term, because he is from the president's backyard he should know that the President would come hard on him. If the chairman was Niger State GOVERNOR, Kano State GOVERNOR, Katsina state GOVERNOR or Sokoto States Governor would GEJ be as heavy handed as he his on Amechi.

The answer is capital NO.

All of this nonsense is silly, the governors forum shouldn't have to exist in the first place, stupid Gej give the states their autonomy so they don't need to gang up.
