Despite the declaration of a State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, the insurgent Boko Haram claim they are winning the war against government forces.

This was stated by Abubakar Shekau, the Boko Haram leader in a video which is the group’s first since the emergency declaration.

President Goodluck Jonathan made the emergency declaration about a fortnight ago which has led to increased troops presence in the three states in order to dislodge the insurgents and ensure peace in the area.

The Nigerian military has said several times that it is achieving success against the insurgents and has killed some, arrested scores of insurgents, dislodged several of their camps, and freed kidnapped victims.
