This is poor journalism at its worst. Firstly how can one grant amnesty to an already convicted criminal serving his sentence? This is legally impossible rather what the Governor can do is to grant pardon. Amnesty denotes that the accused person was never convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction in the first place. Pardon on the other part denotes that there was a conviction but the convicted person was subsequently forgiven by the State. These two legal terminologies never meant the same thing. Is this newspaper house trying to tell me that it does not have a lawyer-journalist who can make contribution on legal matters? Secondly where did the Governor of Anambra State get the power to grant "amnesty" to a person in Enugu prison? This is totally unknown in our legal jurisprudence. 1 Like |

Politicians have taken another dimension. This is indirect way of encouraging crime in the society . A close look at it will reveal that murderers are considering the one whose own was reduced to 21 that shows d gravity of his offence. |

Afam4eva:It's not. With the prospect of at least regaining their freedom someday, their life in prison will be with some hope, and not despair as is the case of one facing life imprisonment. A prisoner in his 20's or 30's will still make it to freedom before he turns 50. |

@madam_oringo; Please which bridge are you talking about, is it the 1km bridge built with taxpayers money and yet the masses will have to pay through their nose to cross? I don't think you are seeing clearly because if you do you will know that the bridge is a spell on the masses to enrich politicians. |
