eyenCalabar: One former almajiri who grew up and roamed the streets of Kotangora. He took up the name of his town just like the rest of them, joined the army and by virtue of being from the right region rose to become Minister of the republic, serving in IBB, Abacha, and Abdulsalam Administrations. 1 Like |

A man of high integrity,he had all the opportunities to loot funds when he was minister for works and housing, but refused. It was said that IBB had to secretly deposit funds into his accounts. Very humble man. Most of the dual carriage roads in Nigeria were constructed during his administration as works and housing minister. He was able to secure $1M (big money then) grant for ABU to develop it's decaying infrastructure. One of the Nigeria's honest man is gone. RIP. |

Vernor: I am amazed how ignorant most of you are, the house you refers to as his belongs to Federal Ministry of works in Marina, Lagos and was named after him as a former Minister of works and Housing who over see the completion of the building during Babangida regime. RIP General. |

Policewoman: RIP. He was a great soldier. Are you allowed to pose with cigar in police uniform?Or is that not blunt or cigar in your hand? One would have thought that police should be at the forefront of campaign against smoking tobaco and shouldn't associate it uniform with "poseful" smoking. |

Vernor: Haba! Always post what you are sure of. Mamman Kontagora House belongs to FMBN. The building was completed in 1991 when he was the Minister of Works. The building was just named after him. Ministry of Works and Housing is the supervising ministry for FMBN. If you are not sure of an information, please don't post. |

The work he did in ABU cannot be forgotten.I remember it was during his time that Ribadu Hall was converted to female hostel to give more accommodation to ladies. The infrastructural transformation he brought to ABU is what is been improved upon by subsequent VCs. May his soul rest in peace. |

Oh my General is gone. I met him first in a place and I can vouch for his integrity. I benefited from his leadership of integrity. Rest in peace, my mentor. For those of you who do not know him or never met him while he was alive, this is a man different from the likes of IBB, Abacha etc. General Kotangora held positions/appointments that would have made him stupendously rich but it was not in his character to loot government funds. Infact,if he had his way will use his personal salary to carry out an official work/assignment. He was never interested in accumulating illegal wealth. Wherever he worked, he served with all integrity. Adieu, my dear GENERAL. ![]() ![]() |
