The evolution of mobile phones right from its invention in 1973 has been nothing short of a miracle. We have moved a long way to get to where we are in the technology of phone making.

In recent years, phones with keyboard input being speedily replaced with phones that use touchscreen as input.

Presently, touchscreen phones (mostly smartphones) own about 49.7% of the mobile phone market in the U. S. In the first quarter of 2013, Gartner reports that 49.3% of mobile phone sales worldwide were smartphones. This means the trend is fast shifting to touchscreen phones.

However there is the need to see the mobile phone which led the pack in utilizing the groundbreaking technology.

Although there were reports that Apple made a prototype for a touchscreen, the first mobile phone to use the touchscreen is the IBM Simon.

The IBM Simon was released in 1992 by IBM as a joint creation with Bellsouth.

Do you know that the first touchscreen phone was launched in 1992 by IBM and known as The IBM Simon. Georgia based PDA dimensions developed the only third party application named "DispatchIt" for Simon.It was a Remote Desktop software and costs were $2,999 for the host PC software and $299 for each Simon software client.
