Women Talk!

Women being beaten by their husbands or partners. Is it normal in the scheme of our traditions and culture, or should it be rejected maybe by an act of parliament? Note, there are women who want to be beaten!

So many comments and views were aired. Just felt we cld share our opinions.

The beating of any human being is not accepted by any tradition that i'm aware of. But what may be accepted is the reason for the beating. In most African cultures, men are like demi-Gods and women are supposed to submit themselves to their Chi(God) through their husbands. In most cases of abuse by the men in these cultures, it's assumed that the women is at fault and actually she's at fault as stipulated by tradition.

It's morally bad to beat a woman just as it is to beat a man or even your own child. It's funny that some people who are against the beating of women don't see anything wrong in beating their children who are more feeble and weak compared to women but the whole of Africa has accepted child beating as a norm. I think the laws have to be made to protect children just as it has been made to protect women.

and its not as if I was tryna argue with you or go against what you typed. Some questions just don't need to be asked cos their answers aren't far-fetched, hence my saying "no long story."
