A 100L female student in the department of mass communication, Anambra State university,
Igbariam campus was shot dead by robbers
yesterday night.
Students in their multitude mounted road blocks
on the federal road leading from Onitsha to Awka
and Enugu. They rioted for close to 5 hours,
smashing vehicles and destroying properties,
protesting against lack of security till the SARS
men came, shooting sporadically and throwing tear
gas at the student protesters who were also
throwing stones at them.
The Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi
arrived at the scene to calm the students and
promised that Anambra state Government is aware
of their situation and immediate solution will be
granted to the problems facing the students
