seedord247: What kind of country is this?

Whats the job of the judge and why would they demolish a supermarket when the suspect is yet to be pronounce guilty. lipsrsealed
I'm sorry Seedord247, i don't care about the '' 18 likes '' awarded you so far, by Nairalanders.
Which judiciary are you talking about ? In this country ?
The same judiciary that handled the case of Mr. Maina - the Pension fund director who embezzled N230billion pension funds ?
He was pronounced GUILTY - and what happened ? What was his sentence ?
N750,000 fine - that was his sentence.
I believe you must have read about it.

They should destroy it and term it accidental destruction
Re: Jonathan’s Approval Needed To Demolish Amigo Supermarket by nex(m): 9:31pm On Jun 08, 2013
Maybe Hezbollah members are hiding inside the foundation of the building, so your SSS wants to demolish it in order to conclude their investigations.

What's all these talk about keeping the property and selling it or what not. Didn't you guys read the part that says the SSS fears these assets could find their way back to the perps ala the Vaswanis.

The SSS is openly acknowleging we don't have real constitutional laws or strong enough institutions to uphold them across party lines or even executive terms. In this light I fully support their proposals. It will act as a deterrent to those thinking or playing the part. If you're caught, you will lose everything no matter how much.

is it guilty until proven innocent or viceversa?
Anyways hope they are ready to provide jobs for the current employees?
As tearing down the supermarket will cost people their jobs
Cant the state just run or monitor the proceeds of the supermarket for now?

LOoking at the topography of the AMIGO stores building even an idiot will know that there is an underground unit there, if the approval is not given they will get back their property with time, Lebaneese are known to have strong links in this country, Tahir Fadlalah the man in whose house arms were found in Kano is linked even to the Emirs palace. GOODLUCK Please wake up!!

@Onyocha....

Good analysis..
When did Hezbollah become a terrorist organization?

This is the extent of cruelty being sponsored by Israel. Why demolish an investment instead of probing the person involved?

Why not just simply search? Why are the weapons and ammunitions discovered rusted and outdated ? Why are the weapons and ammunitions in coolers freshen than?

How did they get to pin point the ammunitions and not be able to pin point others using same methods without demolishing the entire structure?

Israel should know that Nigeria is the least balanced nation to seek alliance. A new power regime means new alliance and that is the story of Nigeria.

Israel will end up self destructing with the intentions of controlling Africa and middle east SIMPLE!!!

How sure is the SSS that this is the right step to take in the matter? What if nothing is found after the demolition? Can we afford an embarassing diplomatic row this would generate if the process goes south? I think the President has ample reason to be cautious.
Re: Jonathan’s Approval Needed To Demolish Amigo Supermarket by splashbaby(m): 7:31am On Jun 09, 2013
Why wait for approval? those places bombed in Yobe did not get one GEJ. Let them pull the structure down if it is hindering their work!
Re: Jonathan’s Approval Needed To Demolish Amigo Supermarket by fsb(m): 8:11am On Jun 09, 2013
Assuming the DSS know what they are doing then they must have a good argument on why demolition is an option as opposed to confiscation of the property.

Fact is Nigerians would probably never know in details, what was discovered in the supermarket and like always, it's always easier to lie to the public to give them that false sense of security that they need...

whats the ish with all these people asking if one have ever been to Amigo's. Yes! i have been there and would rightly say it is not bigger than Ceddi Plaza in central area ( even doh ceddi is a collection). Sahad stores even sell cheaper than them. so lets not look at the size. and while we are waiting for a guilty verdict from the court, the unseen thing are happening under our very nose.

What with Nigeria? Even if we worship America and Britain, should we stil worship Lebanese? If it were other countries, it won't take this long for that supermarket to be brought down, to show to the Lebanese that Nigeria does not tolerate terrorism. But I believe members of GEJ's cabinet are prevailing on him not to take action for economic reasons. If that was the case, it goes on to show how much we value foreign interest than we value ours, and how much premium we place on the lives of our citizens- their welfare can easily be compromised for foreign investments.

edoyad: This man should grow some spine for heaven's sake. Do they even need his permission to tear down the building? Why don't they just go ahead in the interest of National security
this is an issue dat is concerned with the national security and due process has to b followed which heavily and necessarily include d approval of the president.
Morealso, dis is not an issue among the citizens of the country, it involves anoda country. Any decision dat has to b made must be critically and meticulously scrutinised and consider d relationship dat exist btw NIGERIA and the country in question.

However, I can only blame Gej for his slow style of governance and administration.

ℓ know U̶̲̥̅̊я plan GEJ, shey Ʊ wan form anoda committee 4 am abi?

Ode!

I think the president is being cautious and will have to weigh all options in order to avoid another furore from naija political demagogue's penchant for making mountain out of anthills in the name of opposition and likewise avoid diplomatic logjam if peradventure no weapon is found in the building.
However national security must be placed above all and if need be the building should be demolished ASAP.

And please stop calling the president names though he may not be the best but hes the C-in-C and should be respected and encouraged to steer the ship of state to safety in these turbulent times.
