There was palpable tension in Jos, the Plateau state capital, on Friday, when an articulated vehicle crashed into the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The vehicle with registration number EPL 756 XD rammed into the CBN building in the early hours of the morning, destroying much of its cargo.

Sources say it was initially parked by the road-side, leading to the CBN office, by the Plateau Teaching Hospital.

The driver, it was learnt was trying to manoeuvre a bend when he lost control. The steering and breaking system reportedly malfunctioned.

Although no life was lost in the incident, the trailer crashed into a Peugeot car belonging to Kanke Local Government mass transit.

The trailer, which belongs to the Qualitec Aluminium Industry Ltd, had conveyed goods from its base in Lagos to be delivered to Alumetal Nigeria Ltd, a company handling the roofing work at the ongoing expansion of the CBN building.

The site Engineer of Alumetal Nigeria ltd, Musa Isiaka, said that his company would not take responsibility for the incident as the goods had not yet reached destination.

He said his team would gather the necessary information and send same to the vehicle’s company in Lagos.

“We are doing this because our company and theirs are partners in business and the goods are from us; since we are on ground, if we don’t assist, it won’t augur well,” Isiaka said.

State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselem, confirmed the incident, adding that the Command would further investigate the incident.

What is there to investigate again? The company will repair the damages done. That's all.

Hope Bokoharam did not hijack the truck and rammed it into the building.

The site engineer is very funny grin
But he's right though depending on the agreement reached by both companies, this is why insurance is very important.

This reminds me of a story where a man was about to collect money from a bank cashier when armed robbers entered d bank, he pushed the money back to d cashier, d cashier pushed the money back to him grin
They were arguing who the money belongs to until d armed robbers agreed to settle d matter by taking the money grin

This CBN building is just next compound to the COCIN Headquarters that was bombed last year! I can imagine how the batton carrying security guards would flee for their dear lives! Lol...

Anyways, we are grateful that no life was lost. Otherwise the poor driver may have been lynched.

How come you are always online, commenting on every thread, every minute? With crime running rampant across the federation, one would think you should be pre-occupied with making arrests or conducting investigations. Is this how your incompetent agency tackles crime in nigeria? No wonder the army and DSS are doing your jobs.

Come to think of it, how did you even escape from ombatse in nassarawa state?

The Cashier didn't do well at all. If the money was carted away in his custody, the bank will certainly bear the loss. They are not going to blame him because the robbery occurred within the bank whilst in Cashier's custody.
However, any money lost by the customers within the banking hall will be borne by them.
