I am really sad & angry @ the same time. I'm sad because of the pain brought upon the family by the NPF. The pain is unimaginable. I pray God gives them the fortitude to bear the loss. I'm angry at the way the snr officer said the death might have been caused by armed robbers. Instead of them to take the bull by the horn, they are tryna shift blame. I dont think anyone can put the sympathy of the Nigerian policemen in my heart. They are corruption personified. When the Ombatse cult attacked them, i did not have pity for them. I spit on their name. RIP, Timilehin.

otokx: Thought they had dismantled all Police road blocks in the country; well truth be told some of them are back in business, saw some at that LNG area of eastern by pass, Port Harcourt, the other day and was like WOW.
Don't mind them, they are after Tinted permits from Tinted vehicle owners. I was stopped by them motherfuckers last Saturday @ Ikotun by Mr. Biggs where i had wanted to take my son for a treat. Damn! they asked for my tinted permit and I argued with them that my Jeep is factory tinted and as such (maybe ignorantly) i would not need a permit. While the argument was going on my son, unknowingly to me, was already crying inside the car and was getting traumatized. Damn! I opened the passenger seat where my son was seat belt strapped. I unstrapped him and he got down from the car (Still Crying). My son then did what I never expected. He went to the policeman with tears in his eyes and said to him "Sorry Police.. Sorry Police" and making that 'sorry' sign children make with their hands. Men! I was moved. I calmed down and told the freaking police I would go process my Tinted Permit and that he should forget it and allow us go, atleast for the sake of my son. He said to me he would let me go for the sake of my son else he would've loved to impound my Jeep and make me pay 10k for my arguments. Well, I decided right on to go process my Permit. Fvck policemen and policewomen. Fvck them all..

Only Ombatse people this policemen aя̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ afraid of. When they see their mate they can't shoot. So many police in nigeria need to go back to training. U mean tear gas did not work for the hoodlums. That's a fat lie.
Why is it only RIP stories I hear every week on nairaland suo. They should be bringing the good news like fuel is back to 65naira or food prize have reduce.

RIP, sweet boy!
Armed robbers operated at night and probably released bullets, then the bullet that was fired at night killed the boy in daytime. . . Made in Nigeria.

...............they don't need to run. Their sins will definitely catch up with them. Hope they have a families too? One thing is certain, they will never know peace again in their lives, both in their homes, at their work, even in their families. As they've brought sadness to this family, so will sadness goes ahead & behind them. Just because of N50 they want to extort from the commercial buses, they end up taking a life of a promising child.

I've always says that Nigeria Police Force needs to be scrap though, they are bunch of nuisance in the society. I think the society could do better without them. I could write on & on about so many of their atrocities, those that I know now & those that I have the records. There's nothing good to write home about them......nothing good to write.

Timilehin, it's just a pity that you have to die like this. I'm very sure you will be in the bosom of the Lord by now. Don't worry anymore about this wicked people, God will give your parents & siblings fortitude to bear this loss.

We are all living in a dead country anyway, it has never been better since their so called independent. All our leaders have been so useless....... I mean all the governing sectors, including all the ministry & their ministers.

There is absolutely nothing to write home about. Everything is just getting worse, the Police force, the educational sector, the health sector, the energy sector, the customs, all the roads are bad, so many things.

I honestly just hope that Jesus Christ will come & do rapture for Nigeria alone, if He's not ready for the rest of the world. Let Him just come & do Nigeria own now. The wahala is too much, even for us that are in a small scale business too, it has always been suffering & smiling.

Rest in peace Timi.

Anyway, back to the topic, I fear police pass anything...I dey run

timi0103: This story brought tears to my already swollen eyes. Why all these hullabaloo? The NPF again......... This is just too pathetic.
Would justice bring back young Timilehin? There has to be an end to this. Also, a drastic measure must be put in place to curb the excessive drunkeness and aggressiveness of the police.

Little wonder; the popular Nigerian cliche "police is your friend" makes zero sense to the citizens. Is it about reforms, restructuring, apprehension or a better living for the NPF?

I honestly just hope all this reports are getting to the office of IGP & Mr President. Though, I know it might not make any sense to him, since he is busy throwing his weight around Gov. Rotimi Amechee & others that are against him. Let's wait and see what Ruben Abata (Abati) has to say this time around.......... bunch of idiots.

toba: Nigerian police and their usual cover up. Hear this

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, told PUNCH Metro that it was possible that Timilehin was killed by armed robbers as a robbery incident had occurred in the area that night.
what stupidity, the boy was killed by robbers LAST NIGHT,yet he was picked at the airport by his parents, these people are really daft, nothing wll make nigerians like the police even if they employ robocop, rip to the child
One will then wonder if it was possible that the boy that was shot once was actually hit by the bullet of the imaginary armed robbers, why did this happen?

He said on getting to the police station, he dropped the corpse of his son at the counter and all the policemen fled

They should have waited to explain that they didn't kill the boy

Olusegun described his son as an intelligent boy and a fan of Manchester United Football Club.
He said, “Timilehin was the only one that could
operate our television very well even though he was
just in primary three at Royal Scholars Montessori
School. He loved watching Eurosports and cartoons
and his best team was Manchester United. The polic have stolen our joy.”

There is a need for a 2 tier police force.x
1 local tier- police officer who will serve in their own locality and state. They can be promoted to regional tier if they attain a certain lvl of excellence, bravery and crime solving ability.
2 regional tier - can serve in any state in in the your own region e.g SW ,SE etc
3national tier- can serve in any state or region after attaining a decent level of education, excellence, decency ,courage etc

As it is,many of these police officers just bribe their superiors to be transferred to the Lagos -Ibadan -ogun axis and portharcourt -Aba axis to mount roadblock in order to collect egunje

toba: Before nko? if a policeman kills anyone in Nigeria, that's the end. The person will die in vain. Never argue with a policeman with gun. there could be 'accidental discharge'
Police also too dey lie. They will surprise you by calling the black you confirmed to be black red and no two ways about that. I hate NIGERIAN POLICE" They are enemy of no commercial value.
Re: Policemen In Lagos Killed A 9-Year-Old Boy And Fled by kraftykc(m): 12:00pm On Jun 17, 2013
What exactly is the police good for?

Accidental discharge is their catch phrase, they lead in roadside bribery, they escalated the BH crises by killing Mohammed Yusuf like a chicken, they run from robbers more times than they face them, they give intel to their targets about their plans, they sell their weapons to criminals and worse of all, they are so incompetent they cannot even cover their tracks. They have FAILED at everything we have tasked them on. The NA is only half their strength but it takes on 3 times the workload of the shitty police force.

People have to stop relying on "God" only for justice when we know that the "killer" run free, we should all go to the Nigeria Police Force website and send emails to ask for an explanation. The name and the picture of this killer should be printed all over the medias. If we do nothing the case will be sweep under the carpet.

Nigerian police, that is what they know how to do best. Killing innocent Nigerians and trying to lay blames on others for their misconduct. May timi soul rest in perfect peace. Amen
toba:

When on June 13, 2013, the Ebun family went to pick up their son, Jide, from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, everybody was happy because the 17-year-old boy had been in Canada where he was schooling and had not seen his family for two years.

The family comprising the father, Olusegun, the mother, Funke, the first son, Jide, the only daughter, Damilola, and the last child, nine-year-old Timilehin, were in a Sports Utility Vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, with registration number HD844EKY.

Timilehin sat in the centre of the back seat with his two siblings where he was playing a hand-held game.

The nine-year-old boy and his father were engaged in an argument as regards his future ambition. While the little boy said he wanted to be a footballer, his father advised him to go to the university to study medicine after which he could go ahead to become a footballer.

The reunion was however short-lived. On getting to Mile 12 end of Ikorodu Expressway, a police stray bullet pierced through the windscreen of the vehicle and killed Timilehin on the spot.

Our correspondent, who visited the family home of the deceased on Sunday, saw sympathisers coming in droves to condole with the family.

The deceased’s father told PUNCH Metro that the police had stolen their joy.

He said life would never be the same without the little boy who was full of life and was always making the house lively.

Narrating what transpired on the fateful day, he said, “Jide had been away for two years and my plan was to go and visit him in Toronto, Canada. However, he said he missed his siblings and wanted to come home to see them. So, we decided to let him come. On that day, we went to pick him up at the airport. We were on our way back home at Ikorodu.

“On getting to Kosofe Bus Stop at Mile 12, we saw policemen trying to extort money from a commercial bus driver who had climbed the culvert to drive back towards Ketu. There was an argument in the process and policemen started shooting.

“One of the bullets pierced through my windscreen and hit Timilehin in the eye. The broken glass also injured my wife and Jide. Immediately after the shooting, the policemen boarded their patrol vehicle and fled to their station. I carried my son to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.”

Olusegun said touts were able to chase the policemen but in the ensuing pandemonium, his telephone and ATM cards were stolen.

He said on getting to the police station, he dropped the corpse of his son at the counter and all the policemen fled.

He said he remained at the station for two hours as the policemen refused to take his statement.

He said, “I got to the station with my son’s corpse and I created a scene as I told the policemen that they must kill me too. They all fled and when the Divisional Police Officer finally attended to me, the policemen were denying the allegations as they traded blame.

“After two hours at the station, I had to call a senior official of the Lagos State Government who then spoke with the DPO. My wife then wrote a statement.”

Olusegun described his son as an intelligent boy and a fan of Manchester United Football Club.

He said, “Timilehin was the only one that could operate our television very well even though he was just in primary three at Royal Scholars Montessori School. He loved watching Eurosports and cartoons and his best team was Manchester United. The police have stolen our joy.”

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, told PUNCH Metro that it was possible that Timilehin was killed by armed robbers as a robbery incident had occurred in the area that night.

He however said the team of policemen on duty had been arrested and transferred to X Squad, the police department in charge of handling crimes committed by policemen.

He said, “Some policemen were trying to arrest a commercial bus driver when violence erupted. The policemen fired teargas but the hoodlums proved stubborn so the policemen called for backup. When backup arrived, shots were fired to disperse the hoodlums and the policemen arrested the driver.

“About two hours later, a man came to the station with his dead son, saying policemen killed him. The team of policemen has been arrested along with the driver. However, we are not ruling out the possibility that the boy was killed by robbers because there was a robbery in the area that night.”

A police source identified some of the arrested policemen as Inspectors Olaleye Sunday, Sule Dauda and Sergeant Razaq Alowonle.

The deceased’s father, however, berated the police authorities for trying to exonerate their men.

“It was policemen that killed my son, not armed robbers because I saw a patrol vehicle; except robbers now use patrol vehicles. The police have stolen our joy and all we want is justice for the death of Timilehin,” he said
