We must realise that Lamorde is not Ribadu. Ribadu is a politician so he made so much noise in the media when he was EFCC chair. But besides the media noise and DRAMA, how many convictions did he secure during his tenure? Lamorde on the other hand is apolitical. His modus operandi is very different from that of Ribadu. Recall Lamorde was the head of operations in the Ribadu EFCC. Not much has changed, besides the lack of drama and media noise of the Ribadu era

Efcc was created to tackle political opposition not financial crimes. Especially, if you're not a member of the PDP, they can set them loose to tackle and disgrace you in public until you subject to their demands after paying your bribe or dues if you're a crook aswell. Again, the organization was created to call stubborn pdp members to order...we'll know that all officials of the pdp party in government are crooks. Lately, what the efcc does is to arrest boys that are into petty crimes like Yahoo Yahoo, not the big financial and civil service crimes they were being created to arrest! Normally, if they are doing their job well, a common crook like Farouk Lawal won't be in the National assembly and still amending laws and at thesame time being paid!!

CFCfan: The 'docility' of the EFCC can't be the sole responsibility of one man. I believe the body has offices in the 36 states of the federation. Therefore, individuals in each state can petition their local EFCC office, or the officials in those state offices can launch prosecutions against any accused person(s).
This mentality of an all-powerful Oga at the top has to end in Nigeria, nay Africa. The strengthening of our public institutions has to be the priority.

The system must change. The EFCC deserves some form of autonomy to better pursue its cases. The Attorney -general is in charges of all cases in Nigeria, the President appoints the Executive Chairman, meanwhile peeps in power are choppin away as cases in our snail paced judiciary drag on for years.e no easy to convict person for Nigeria....if i dey lie try am see.

The president is EFCC and EFCC is the president !!!!

Obasanjo gave Ribadu the Job also He gave him the necessary executive powers and support needed for Him (Ribadu ) to excel !!!

Ribadu could not have achieved such much If not for His president !!!

The President is the only man that has that power to answer what is happening to EFCC !!!

So,when u see an Ineffective/inefficient EFCC that conspired with a criminal to pay 750,000 naira for a stolen 24billion naira :::::::::::::::::::: thats how the oga ontop want it to be cuz another criminal is gonna be pardoned !!!

EFCC's chairman is waiting for Jonathan to give him a list of unloyal Governors and citizens to prosecute, the same way Nuru Ribadu got his list from OBJ. EFCC is an institution set up by government to fight its enemies. Jonathan's enemies are just unfolding; so EFCC investigation/prosecution list is currently being compiled. If you criticise Jonathan too much on this forum, Seun Osewa's name will be on the list; his offence according to EFCC will be stealing a pencil when he was in primary 2A. Is that not corruption?

Hello all;
I think EFCC has issue of morale which has affected their operations and approach to work.
Unless they are sure the coast is clear and they would not get a backlash from ogas at the top they would prefer to maintain a low profile.
My office has a 2 month old petition with them and apparently nothing has been done; not even writing the bank to confirm if cheques were truly dud or not or even inviting the accused.
Before now; people fear efcc; now the fear is not really there; to get them back – there is a need to assure the operatives that excellence would not be negatively rewarded. That diligence truly pays and that justice would be allowed to prevail eventually.
Imagine if you are the efcc operative that uncovered monumental fraud; refused to take bribe and took the case up to the court only for it to be thrown out and probably affect your career. Of course you would be discouraged; you would advice yourself to tread carefully and as such compromise on excellence.
I have met some of their operatives and they are young smart people; not laid back people; not the type that just want to roll by with life. So ordinarily they should be up and doing – but then the environment may not be too conducive for them to operate and being young they would prefer to play it safe which is simply logical.
Thank you all

when Lamorde was appointed EFCC chairman, I new that GEJ and his team of Anti-Corruption crusaders were just a bunch of jokers.
Unless you didn't know who was really behind graft in EFCC during Ribadu's time, will you trust Lamorde to fight corruption.

Let me review this section briefly. In verse 22, Jesus healed a blind and dumb man. The Pharisees accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of "Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons" (v. 24). Jesus responds by saying that a kingdom divided will fall (vv. 25-28), and how the devil must first be bound before you can plunder his house (v. 29). In verses 31-32, He states that blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or the age to come.

By simply looking at the context it becomes apparent that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is saying that Jesus did His miracles by the power of the devil. This is unforgivable. But why? We can find a clue by looking at the point when Jesus began His ministry.

Jesus stated that His baptism was to "fulfill all righteousness," (Matt. 3:15). The word "fulfill" should cause us to think of the Old Testament. Basically, Jesus was baptized because He had to fulfill the Old Testament requirements for entering into the priesthood. He was a priest after the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4; Heb. 5:8-10; 6:20). Priests offered sacrifice to God on behalf of the people. Jesus became a sacrifice for our sin (1 Pet. 2:21; 2 Cor. 5:21) in His role as priest. According to the Old Testament, in order for a priest to be consecrated he had to be washed with water (Lev. 8:6; Exodus 29:4, Matt. 3:13-15) and anointed with oil (Lev. 8:12; Exodus 29:7; Matt. 3:16). Both of these were bestowed upon Jesus at His baptism. Additionally, He may have needed to be 30 years old (Num. 4:3).

The oil is representative of the Holy Spirit who descended upon Jesus at His baptism (Matt. 3:16). It was after His baptism that He began His ministry and started performing miracles. He did His miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit who had come upon Him at His baptism. The Pharisees - who knew that Jesus' miracles validated His words and ministry (see John 11:45-48) - were attempting to discredit Jesus' Messiahship by saying His works were by the devil and not by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan, they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit by whom Jesus performed His miracles. This is unforgivable because it struck at the very heart of the redemptive work of God in Christ. It struck at the very nature of Jesus' ministry of redemption, testimony, and teaching. Jesus was ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit Himself, fulfilling the divine plan of God to provide a sacrifice for our sins (John 3:16; 1 John 4:10). The Pharisees were attributing this to demonic activity. This is a great blasphemy.
Can a Believer Commit the Unforgivable Sin?

No. A believer cannot commit the unforgivable sin. How can someone who has been born again (John 3:7), made a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), and received eternal life (John 10:27-28) actually commit the unforgivable sin? He cannot. Jesus Himself said that we have eternal life, not conditional life: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:27-28). Besides, it says in 2 Cor. 5:17 that the Christian is a new creation in Christ. We are different, no longer slaves to the old nature (Rom. 6:14). We are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

There is no biblical support for a believer committing this sin. It just hasn't happened. Also, if you are worried that you may have committed the sin and can't be forgiven, then don't be concerned. If you are worrying about it, then you haven't committed it. If you are worried about it, that is a sign you have not committed it. If you had, you wouldn't be concerned.

Please, go ask Femi Falana and his group of biased crusaders. They are the ones that lied against Farida Waziri and persistently called for her sack, just because their friend was removed from office.

It is on record and very glaring for anyone who deals with facts (and not propaganda) that Farida Waziri's records is the best in the history of EFCC to date. The number of court prosecutions, high profile cases prosecuted, and total number of court convictionsetc under her are more than what has every been recorded in EFF since inception.

Femi Falana and his pro-Ribadu cohorts campaigned, castigated and told lies against Farida....we are all living witness to what is happening.

Do you hear Femi Falana and his band of pro-Ribadu hypocrites complain about EFCC nowadays or since Farida left?

Please tell me how they're fighting the anti-corruption war silently. Remember that the people involved in the pillaging of our national resources are usually public figures. How do/can you fight such a war silently? Won't there be arrests, trials and convictions?

Besides, making a body like EFCC visible and loud also has what I call a 'deterrent factor'.

This is the problem. EFCC is fast asleep and corruption is strutting about and bestriding the entire Nigerian landscape like a collosus.

If we believe that corruption is the reason why we have problems/underdevelopment in education, health, power, security, transport, water provision, etc sector, then we should all speak out on this comatose body called the EFCC.

Sadly, human rights activists and the press have been quiet.

What's going on?

Your argument is circular.

EFCC is working but they have to do more.

EFCC is being weighed down by delays in the justice system.

The judiciary is being cleansed.

Ribadu was seen to have performed because he was a politcian.

----------------------------------

So what's your conclusion?

Was it not the same judiciary that the duo of Ribadu and Waziri worked with? If we agree with you that Jonathan is cleasing the judiciary now, we can even say that Ribadu and Waziri worked with a worse judiciary.

When will this supposed cleasing of the judiciary end? Is there a terminal date or target?

Till then what's happening to our commonwealth? What's happening to the former governors, speakers, ministers, commissioners, LG chairmen, etc? For now, let me even leave former presidents/heads of state.

How many petitions has Lamorde acted upon? How many court cases (not even convictions) has he initiated?

In what way is Lamorde's EFCC (and of course Jonathan's EFCC) trying to prevent economic crime and corruption by being in the news and reminding people that crime doesn't pay? Are there such programs in both below the line and above the line media?

The message is clear - EFCC under Jonathan has become inept. Simple.

Who suffers from this ineptitude of the EFCC? The people of course!

Hapless Nigerians are being harassed and deported the world over. Nigerians have become endangered species from South Africa to Malaysia! Even the UK is introducing a visa bond for Nigerian visitors!

The Nigeria of today has a staggering rate of unemployment. When vacancies of 300 positions are advertised, over a hundred thousand people apply.

Nigeria has become a classic case of a 'rich country with poor citizens'.

What is the major factor responsible for this sad state of affairs? Corruption of course!

You see, no matter how strong an institution is, everything still rises and falls on leadership.
