I often hear many people say (" the christian killed us, killed our children' and some stuff like that. The problem lies in whom you see as a christian.For clearity sake he is not a christian just because :
1. He has a chrstian name.
2.He is a bishop. or rev or pastor or pope.
3.He carries the bible.
4.He preaches on tv or has visited Israel!.
5.He has christian parents.
JUDGE CHRISTIANITY ONLY BY TWO THINGS
1.The personality of the Lord Jesus Christ.
2.The teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, that of the aposles ACCORDING to the bible.
In Antioch Believers were called CHRISTIANS because they talked, walked, love , work like Christ. (Act -11:26) All of them still carried their jewish names and other identities. If Christ did not do or cannot do what he's doing, he cannot be representing Jesus Christ.

@Poster u missed the most outsatnding mark in identifying who a Christain is ,which is the indwelling of the Holyghost in Him/Her,only by Christ Spirit can u be empowered and sustained to live and act like Christ.The Early believers u mentioned knew this and the Latter believers also are aware...(Christainity) is not by might or power but my Spirit says the Lord.Shalom Shalom!

You are very correct but it MUST BE the Spirit of God not the spirit of mammon or any other spirit masqurading like the Spirit of God. The Spirit must speaks of Christ.(John-16:13)

He is a Christian because :
1.He loves friends, fellow believers and even the human ENEMIES because he knows he is not fighting physical human beings but spiritual powers and so christian weapons are not physical. (Ephesian 6:12) Jesus rebuked Peter because he wanted,to fight with sword. A christian does not invoke disease, destruction,death on his 'enemies. Even at the point of death he says 'father forgive them ...(Act 7:60 & Luke 23:34) Remember christianity is not the same as Judaism.

2.He forgives any sin against him because he knows that his being forgiving by God is a direct consequence of forgiving others.(Mathew 6:12)

3.The mandate on him is to go in to the world to make disciple of all nations and not to make money or amass wealth.(Mark 16: 15-18)

4. He knows is a light and salt of the world and so he has no portion with darkness of any form and must not be found among spoilers. (Mathew 5; 13-14)

5.He acknowledges the Lordship of Jesus in principle and in practice (Act 16:31)

6, His faith is in the Lord not in his wealth, status,fellow hunan being, etc. He believes the Lord not Himself. (Heb 12:2)

7.He is humble even if he is in Obama's position. He's not arrogant, not boastful, not bossy.(Phillipians 2:5-10)

8.He is a man of power of the Holy Ghost and he uses his Gods given power to benefit humanity, not to harass, intimidate, or kill them.He doesn't seek power to destroy or to proove a point or to show class or to distinguish himself.(Luke 4:17-19)

9.His daily aspiration is to serve his Master, Jesus and to be like Him.(Phillipian 3 9-10)

10.His goal is to make heaven @ the appearance of his Lord, Jesus because what shall profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul. He knows he is on transit in this world

Though well intended, I feel your input needs something in addition.Of a truth the indwelling of the spirit of God is the real mark of a true christian.But you will notice that about 90% of christians in these days of worldly christianity claim to be spirit filled and speak in tongues etc but in reality their conduct,behaviour & lifestyle is a mockery to christianity.Such that even semi prostitutes & immoral ga`y pastors speak in tongues & claim to be spirit filled.
In summary the true true mark is the prescence of the spirit of God with the "MAJOR" evidence of fruits of the spirit mainly righteousness,purity,spotless sanctity that provokes sinners to be ashamed of their sinfulness & acknowledge within them that you are a true christian even though they persecute you.

There is no ancient or modern christian.He is either a christian or not. The standard has not changed. The fact that he claims to be a christian but lacks character tells you the spirit in him. The Spirit of Christ not only gives you power, He first of,all changes you and make you a new creature.(11Corinthians 5:17)

He is not a Christian just because he can heal the sick but because;
.1.He has and manifests the fruit of the Holy Ghost, The fruit of the Holy Ghost is natural and pure with Christians only. Other people can claim to have it but their own is fake. Take LOVE for instance Christian love is agape, It is unconditional .It is Gods kind of love The love He has for the world that made Him to give His only begotten Son. This Gift is to a sinful world not to a world that is serving God not to the world that agrees with His ideas. The love that seeks to redeem the lost NOT to kill him NOT to force him to serve Him. The love that prays for who is persecuting you, who is cursing you. Christian God don’t kill , He saves, He gives life. He's patient with us even when we refuse to serve Him. He loves us even when we are yet sinners. He declares that anybody that hates his brother is a murderer. He said the only way the world can know that we are Christian is when we love ourselves. His other name is love. Do you have that kind of love? That is Jesus kind of love. If you don’t love you are not of Christ. Does that offend you?

A Christian is in spiritual relationship with God. Christian God is not a tin god who is only interested in dishing out orders. He relates with us as sons and daughters. He wants us to be with Him . He even dwells in us in form of the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t need an intermediary between us. Each Christian is a child in particular. No child is more important than the other. Our God reasons with us, plays with us . Moses reasoned with Him before he went ahead to meet Pharaoh. The confidence we have in Him is that when we talks to Him He hears us . There is a freedom of fellowship both in time and posture. I can serve him standing, sitting ,bending, lying , He is concerned about my life and spirit not about hypocritical religion . I serve Him in the day , in the night because He is not limited by time and space. He is my friend , my Lord , my father , my mentor, my security, my husband. MY ALL. There is joy in His presence, that is why I sing for and to Him . DO YOU HAVE A GOD LIKE THAT? HAS YOUR GOD EVER TOLD YOU THAT HE LOVES YOU? COME AND SEE MY GOD ,CHRISTIAN GOD

GUIDE
The book that guides a christian is the holy Bible. No other one. And only the Holy Spirit gives the correct interpretation of it. Bible in the hand of a non-chrstian makes no sense because it is in parables. He uses logic, hatred and sentiment to interpret it. To him it is a book of death. A christian however know that the cross of the Lord Jesus is the power of God, but to an unbeliever it is foolishness. Christan knows that the 'foolishness' of God is wiser that ALL the so-called logic and wisdom of men put together.It was foolishness to Saul even with all his status and priviedges untill scale fell off his face on the way to Damascus.An armed robber, or a liar or a cheater or a hater or a murderer will remain one until scale falls off.
