Monday, 24 June 2013 Oyo State government will, in the next two weeks, begin the payment of compensation to the people affected by the road dualisation going on in Ibadan, the state capital and other major towns in the state.
The state Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Bimbo Kolade, said in a statement issued in Ibadan at the weekend that a total sum of N1,214,737,340 would be paid to 1,304 people whose properties were affected by the six dualisation projects.
He listed the roads currently undergoing dualisation as Efunsetan-Toll Gate Phase I; Efunsetan-Podo Roundabout-Toll Gate Phase II in Ibadan; Dugbe-Magazine-Eleiyele with spur to Aleshinloye-Onireke-Agbarigo Road in Ibadan; Ibadan-Oyo-Iseyin Junction-Iseyin-Okeho Junction, Iseyin; Ilorin Expressway-Ikoyi Junction-Takie-Palace-Ogbomoso Grammar School and Ibadan-Oyo Expressway-Iseyin-Oyo Junction-Owode-Akesan-Palace Road.
While 26 people will receive a total sum of N41,520,165 at Efunsetan-Toll Gate Phase I, 108 people at Efunsetan-Podo Roundabout-Toll Gate Phase II will collect N133,232,522.
The 219 people affected at Dugbe-Magazine-Eleyele with spur to Aleshinloye-Onireke-Agbarigo Road will go home with N229,103,660 while 329 people affected by the Ibadan-Oyo-Iseyin Junction-Iseyin-Okeho Junction, Iseyin will collect N241,358,796. For the 382 people at the Ilorin Expressway-Ikoyi Junction-Takie-Palace-Ogbomoso Grammar School, they will be given N470,503,145,358 while a total sum of N99,019,051 will be paid to the 240 people affected by the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway-Iseyin-Oyo Junction-Owode-Akesan-Palace Road project.
According to the commissioner, the decision to pay the compensation followed the completion of valuation and verification, as well as the submission of the photographs of the affected structures and the verification of title documents submitted by the claimants.
Mr Kolade said that the payment of compensation would be in two phases, with the first phase affecting those affected by the Efunsetan-Toll Gate Phase I and Efunsetan-Podo Roundabout-Toll Gate Phase II in Ibadan, adding that other would follow until all the claimants received their money.
He commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi for his magnanimity in approving the payment to serve as succour for the properties they lost to the road dualisation projects, which, he said, were for the overall development of the state. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/en/news/item/15086-road-dualisation-1,304-to-get-n1-2bn-compensation-in-oyo.html
