Governor Orji’s wife donates food items to destitute homes



Lady Mercy Odochi Orji, wife of the Abia state Governor, distributed food items and other materials to over 37 destitute homes, orphans, prison inmates and people living with HIV/AIDS in the state.

She said the donation exercise was part of her “complimentary roles in the governance of our dear state, Abia”.

The First Lady said the donation was designed to“alleviate the plight of the less privileged in the state”.

According to her, the Governor had from the inception of his administration made it a duty by ensuring that all Abians benefit from his government.

“The government of His Excellency, Sir T. A. Orji, our icon of democracy is totally committed to the welfare of the less privileged, that is why these food items are being delivered here today.

”It should be noted that this distribution of food items is in keeping with the Ochendo administration’s determination of making all classes of Abians partakers of the noble ideals of his government.

“Therefore, as you receive these dividends of democracy, I enjoin you to be in harmony with yourselves, be law-abiding, respect all constituted authorities and spare a moment during your quiet time in prayers to God for peace and success of this administration”, Mrs. Orji said.

The Abia First Lady also appealed to philanthropists in the state, organized private sectors and corporate bodies to assist the government in alleviating the suffering of the less privileged.
