The Greatest Enemies Of The Cross by Nobody: 9:26am On Jun 25, 2013 |
I was once guilty of what I am about to write this morning Whenever an article is raised to challenge a church or man of God , their followers go berserk , throwing around insults, abuse and sometimes even threats. Just read some articles on rccg or deeperlife churches and their MOG , you will squirm at some of the language so called Christians use on unbelievers talk less of each other. This is truly sickening and a departure from the faith once delivered unto the saints. How is a Muslim, atheist, Hindu etc supposed to react positively to the gospel , when the same people who are called to show the light and love of Jesus to the world attack, abuse and threaten them , all in the name of protecting their idols and temples ? Has protecting our church become more important than defending the cause of Christ in the way we speak, think and act ? What about weak Christians, when they do not agree with us we judge them , criticise , ridicule and sometimes even mock their ignorance. It is truly sad that these people who claim to follow Jesus do not follow him in word or deed, very similar to the religious Jews of antiquity who killed Jesus. What was Jesus's example or even the early apostles ? "We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us." - 1 Corinthians 4:12 - Paul "When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly." - 1 Peter 2:23 - Peter "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" - Matthew 5:44 - Jesus Are some among us not the greatest enemies of the cross of Jesus , for their mind is set not on the heavenly where Jesus sits but on the earthly ? They care about tithes, seed sowing and the prosperity gospel to feed their ever growing lusts for earthly and material things , while neglecting the weightier matters of mercy and judgement to the lost and weak among us. SMH "For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things." - Philippians 3:18-19 When will you stop blaspheming the name of Jesus ? |
