resident Goodluck Jonathan shocked Nigerians when on June 16, gave a marching order to the 36 state governors in the country, to see it as a constitutional responsibility to sign death warrants brought to them for assent. This according to the President would no doubt help in curbing what he termed societal ills. The President also tasked the governors on the need not to shirk away from the responsibility imposed on them to sign execution of capital punishment, if that is the only way to restore discipline in the society.

Aside tasking the governors on the need to do what is expected of them as the chief executive officers of their respective states; President Jonathan also tasked parents and more particularly fathers to be role models and also ensure discipline amongst their children whenever they exhibit actions that are relatively not congenial. “I want to urge all of us who are fathers to...
