touch_me_hard: Tinubu really wants to be in charge of Lagos State by all means. He has his men here and there holding strategic positions in Lagos Sate Government. Let us just see how this plays out. Na dem dem.

Become a politician first...and see how it really feels.

The woman in question is an adult and there's no doubt about that.

However, in as much as I don't hate Tinubu (given our political circumstances), this one leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

We know the way things work in Nigeria. The more you look, the less you see but we know ourselves.

I don't have a solid proof that Tinubu imposed his daughter or forced/cajoled the Oba to install his daughter as the Iyaloja. I don't even have any proof that she's not the most qualified.

But you see, we know the ways things work in our country.

You think Tinubu's wife simply got elected as a Senator without Tinubu's influence? You think Obasanjo's daughter became a Commissioner in Ogun State without his consultation? Bukola became a Governor without his father's input? Patience became a Perm Sec in Bayelsa without Jonathan's input? Haba!

You say that Jonathan is supporting Jang in the NGF but do we have any solid evidence? But, yeah, we know that Jonathan is behind Jang.

Let's not hairsplit issues. This decision is not good for Tinubu. It could even sway hitherto moderates to the other side.
it has already,am pissed off

U are mixing so many things together. Yes, her father is powerful and may or may not influenced the Oba in council decision but eh, the final decision is the Kings

Your argument is extenuating.

With her father's influence, do you agree that he could have stopped her installation if he wanted to or if he believed that it could harm his political fortune?

The fact is that it's the little unexpected things or events that lead to the fall of powerful men or even empires.

If the people react badly to this 'innocuous' issue, it could have a major backlash on Tinubu.

If you have a friend that sings your praise all the time and sees nothing wrong in anything you do then you should know there's a problem. As a human being, all your decisions cannot be faultless.

Tinubu should watch it before anti-Tinubu's emotions get to a tipping point. Again, any little thing can push it to a tipping point. He should be very careful.

Really? So you're saying that the Yoruba people in Lagos are so fixated on poverty that they do not see the nepotism going on and come election time it would not have any bearing in their decision making?

Yet in the same tone, you say the SW is enlightened and vastly intellectual? You are not bright!

The SW is clever when it suits you but when it comes to Tinubu we are fools and would only do as we are told because we are too hungry to think?

You say it well and very well exampled by the emboldened. If we can make firm presumption that jonathan has a hand in jang becoming the "chairman" of the governor's forum, why is it so difficult to accept that Tinubu must be an influencing factor or the "influencer" in making his own daughter the iyaloja? Why are evil perpetrated readily acceptable when it comes to gej but not where tinubu is concerned?

You see absolute power corrupts absolutely! Tinubu is clearly divorced from reality and has failed to maintain constant watch of people's pulse. It is clear now that he lives in the same bubble as Jonathan. But we will help him burst that bubble.

Honestly, I hope Tinubu has not become that typical powerful man who gets surrounded by yes-men, loses touch with reality, let hubris take over, and takes all kinds of decisions that may eventually lead to his downfall.

And once the powerful man falls, the yes-men disappear, only to re-group in order to look for another man that they will push into the pit with the ever-constant 'you're right sir!'

Ur concerns are noted. However be rest assured that this traditional role given to his daughter by the much loved Oba won't affect his political fortune.

I laugh when PDP apologists criticize Tinubu for this while keeping mum when Patience Jonathan was made Perm Sec in Bayelsa, ditto for ACN loyalists. Nowadays, it's wrong when the opposing side is doing it while we excuse the side we support for doing similar things.

In the light of this, we should focus on politics of development. We know Jonathan and Tinubu will continue to practise nepotism and parochialism. However, if we have to choose the lesser devil (in the absence of saintly politicians), let us choose the one who is more development inclined and progressive.

Is the title given by democracy? please tell us.

We may try create a distinct peculiarity around the post of iyaloja of Lagos for the sake of winning arguments but we all know within wider Yoruba context, the question of who becomes iyaloja is usually the prerogative of the market women so to me this is deprivation of right of these people to choose.
Mogaji's(rip.) legitimacy was never in doubt, she derived her authority from the ground up and made the post formidable because she was vast and she connected so well with the people she led.

By the way, it stokes a lot of interest (reason or hatred) how he does it. Any 1d10t can install his family members anywhere when he's the No.1 man in Nigeria but to do it 'smoothly' without the slightest political office power. That really is admirable in any political landscape (for serious-minded politicians only pls).

You have not answered my question. The reason I asked was to ascertain you people knew what you were talking about but alas seems emotions have taken a better part of your reasoning. What is Iyaloja-general of Nigeria? What does it represent? You talked about democracy and I told you the position is not based on democracy, now you come with this.

I have a feeling the problem you guys generally have is your pride is hurt. You have this nonsensical idea that being Yoruba, you are too educated and enlightened to allow such things to happen. But you were all here when Adedibu was ruling Oyo with attendant chaos everywhere, what did you do then? You were all around when OGD was ruling Ogun with Boys moving around town with guns, what did you do then?

Simple iyaloja that has no relationship with democracy, you are acusing Tinubu of being anti-democratic. Whoever told you the position was democratic?

Tinubu being a street smart politician knows you people lack insight in this matters. He is a politician who knows the importance of market women on his side and working hard not to lose that side. If that gets in the way of your emotions, it is your problem. You people can go and vote labour next election if you like. Shior. Who is going to take people that took them one year to realize MIMIKO was a PDP member seriously anyway. If Tinubu loses, it is your loss.

Each day these ppl give me reasons to vote GEJ come 2015. With Buhari who is a religious bigot and a sectional leader, then tinubu who wants to turn lagos(Nigeria) into his family business.

In this case I think its safe to say the devil we know(GEJ) is better than ACN/CPC posing as angels.
