you do know he might have received those cakes as gifts right?and Manchester united is not a UK property, its a private business and i like the way Lagos has refused to have a State financed club side, its waste of money and is not the way a proper club should be ran, and if lagosians loved football as much as they claim, why havent someone resurrected the stationery stores??or something undecided??

Hello all,
I think the cakes are birthday gifts and may not have been 'commissioned' by him
I remembered we did a similar MUFC cake for the birthday of one of my former ogas
Most likely it was a 'coup' by his wife and/or the 2 senator Tinubus
I think it would be awkward for him to reject the cakes.
I doubt he would have done such elaborate cakes given the choice.
Please it is his birthday; lets wish him long life; health and wisdom
thank you all
by the way who is the young chap by Sen BAT?

Nigeria's Leaders' Shallow Mentality: Even at levels as high as the governor's office, they still subscribe to the stupid mentality of supporting foreign institutions blindly to the detriment of their own. Is the Lagos State government a shareholder in the Manchester United football business or what? How come a British football club, 6,500 kilometres away is being given free advert while the Stationery Stores FC of Lagos State is totally crippled and is not on the world's football radar? I just don’t understand the sense behind these ugly cakes.
What purpose do these symbols of cakey "bitter" cakes (with full insignia of Lagos State imposed side by side that of Man U logo) serve the interests of Lagosians except to continually get investments, recognition, etc., out of the state in favour of Manchester, UK which sadly still, did not solicit for the advert in any way? What about the effect this picture will have on unsuspecting, young, impressionable and naive minds in many years to come? I just can't come to terms with this childish idea at Fashola’s 50th birthday. It just steers logic on its head.
I love Fashola but I'm really disappointed at this anomaly at his 50th birthday. Hear this! Governor Fashola, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the management of Manchester United does not even know you guys exit, so please stop deluding yourselves and get on with the business of empowering your people and country. These Nigerian dealers (not leaders) must be jesters fit only for the circus. What a shame!

Are you even alright?, like i don't even understand your vex. The guy is human and obviously loves football and Manchester United. He probably was a Man U fan even before he held this political position. Some of you would criticize any and everything... Like! i'm done.

@op, what's ur stress?
Doesnt he have a right to have a foreign club choice of his?
Can u swear u aren't a fan of an international fc?
What if he was given d cake as a gift? ...which is likely 100% true.
How many times have u watched d local fc since u were born?
.
Let him be pls!

Stop this pretence, we cannot totally eliminate foreign lifestyles, from the way we communicate, dress, eat and many more.

bellong: Why are people always sentimental and too serious to socialise. The fact that somebody is a governor means he should discard everything he had interest and passion for?

Before I make my comment, I have read this same piece on facebook and other noise-making social sites, OP, why not reference where you copied it from? Its good sometimes not to take away completely the effort of others.

Next time, table your arguments intelligently and loosen up. These are the things you should be concerned about viz-a-viz.. "DId he use the resources of the state to throw the party?..", Did he use the resources of the state to bake the cake? Is Lagos fund invested secretly in Manchester United without due process?... These are many more intelligent questions are what you need to ask and not this petty story of someone being a foreign fan.

In between, the love of football transcends age, religion, race, ethnicity and what have you. No one can question anyone about the club anybody supports. He will not be the first foreigner in position of authority supporting a foreign club neither will he be the last.

Get your facts right, Manchester United knows who a Fashola, governor of lagos state is. at least Ferdinand had paid a courtesy visit to him before on behalf of the club. If you and your likes are not happy with it, why not drink an 80% conc HCl
BELLONG, BELLONG, HOW MANY TIMES DID I CALL YOU? IT IS NOT SO... TAKE IT EASY, YOU ARE GOING TOO FAR. FOOTBALL IS JUST FUN TO FANS LIKE YOU AND ME AS THOSE PLAYERS SMILE HOME WITH THEIR HEAVY BANK ACCOUNTS.

Is it Lagos State Birthday or Fashola's Birthday? There is no way one who isn't on the same page with you can ever please you...The last time I checked, everybody has the right to associate with institutions and individuals he/she wishes regardless of nationality.

Nigerian mentality no government official from another country will display cakes with any Nigerian clubs. Our weddings 9ja not good enough charity they say begins at home can't if we can only put our house in order it's a disgrace what our leaders are doing. Can we at least be original for once.

I think your argument is baseless. This is the problem with Nigerians. Lack of clear purpose and focus. Is it the Manutd cake that he is cutting that would stop him from dishing out his responsibility as a governor. With all due respect Mr poster, get a grip of your anger, channel it to more effective and productive aspect of the society instead of ranting away in an inefficient manner. Mind you, the guy turned down the usual elaborate parties the other leader throw each year for themselves at the expense of we taxpayers, now a responsible governor cuts cake in the state house to mark his 50th (usually a landmark event in Nigeria) birthday and still people like you still come up.

You're an Arsenal fan? Same here. Bruv, this Higuain sh1te beginning to get on my nerves. Ditto the Fellaini and Williams dithering. I know Wenger likes to be under the radar but it would be superb to get key signings on board to make the planned pre-season tour of Asia for team cohesion before the start of the EPL. If we are not to lose ground then players must gel early and this will happen if they are playing together ASAP. Anyway, we should see movement this week on at least 3 acquisitions. I hope our "interest" in Rooney is just press mischief. Rooney is a player past his best in my opinion. `As per "impressionable minds", no shaking. Not even Oga Fash can dislodge Arsenal as the favourite EP team of Nigerian supporters. No show for Fash and those Manchester chavs cool cool cool

@Post. This is the only thing I dislike about Fashola.

Oga Fash, why 'Manure' for the love of god?

I think it is a little irresponsible for somebody in the person of a state governor to brandish a birthday cake made with the logo of a foreign football Club. It goes to show that our leaders (and i am more surprised for a Fashola) lack the spirit of patriotism. For goodness sake, what happened to our local, Nigerian teams? Freedom of expression, yes, but certainly, Certain things cannot be found in developed countries. This is a minus to a governor believed to be the best so far in Nigeria.
