House of Representatives yesterday during its plenary session mandated its Committees on Appropriation, Finance and Legislative Compliance to summon the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to appear before it and give explanations on comments she made recently. And the Senate has also warned Okonjo-Iweala against setting the National Assembly on warpath with the Presidency over the 2013 Budget amendment. Okonjo-Iweala made the controversial comments concerning the collapse of the economy on Political Platform, a radio programme on RayPower, on Monday, in Abuja. Speaking on a motion of urgent national importance raised by Samson Osagie, member representing Orhiomwon/Uhumwode Federal Constituency of Edo State, the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, who stood in for Speaker Aminu Tambuwal at the sitting, said there was a need to summon the minister on comments concerning the state of economy.
