That's just one ministry and in case you don't know, it's call the Aviation ministry.

It's even worse and more troubling that Nigeria is sinking into massive debt because of just one ministry.

You are not helping with that statement, you even highlighted the dirtiest angle of the whole absurdity..

I practically spent most of my long vacations in Kano and kaduna and Jos so I know the area well
The population means nothing
How many can get on a plane?
There are about 2 million almajiris in Kano alone
Go around Kano you see them sprawled under every mango tree around a Mallam and by evening they are at every major road junction with bowls in hand
So who exactly is hopping on these planes
The number is negligible
Do you know airfrance and some other airline used to fly from the USA to Kano sometime ago
Go and find out why they stopped
The answer is not Boko haram btw

You are talking about a state whose priority in 2013 is organizing mass weddings for widows and jobless men

Why won't they fly their folks abroad?

You have just said exactly what your problem is and i do not need a soothsayer to know where you are from. Anyway, i will help you tell the governor not to organise wedding for widows again so that Kano can surpass your state in provision of prostitutes for. not only the 36 states in Nigeria, but also for major European cities. They are spending billions renovating buildings when there over 10 million children out of school, several youths without employment or stable source of livelihood, extreme poverty, insecurity everywhere caused by societal dysfunction which metmorphosed into kidnapping, armed robbery among others.

Nigeria problems isn't about renovating airport but rehabilitating the larger masses who are the real owner of government but left out to participate in the workings of government.

This is nothing but a waste of fund and misplaced priority !
A renovated airport(amongst other infrastructures) would create a good impression, condusive enviroment and encourage more people to come spend and invest thereby creating jobs for the youths and parents(of the 10 million children) to send thier children to school, eradicate poverty and insecuirity.

Another way to look at your utter senseless post is that Kano could also have the highest birth rate in Nigeria. Most of the kids would not get provided witn basic education and might end up alma jiri or Boko Haram candidates. Why does Naija love wedding and having kids, but DOES NOT like providing for kids who are products of marriage and family?

Have you ever been to Kano?

Are you aware Kano is the second largest state in terms of commercial activity within Nigeria and the second most populous state in the country ? (check wiki)

Do you know Kano & Lagos are competing in terms of population?

Are you aware people troop in to that city like pure water for trade, business and investment?

Are you aware we have a standard football pitch in Kano state where footballers all over the world troop in until recently (crisis and all) ?

Are you aware Kano state governor is sending his people in hundreds on a daily basis for scholarships right from that Kano airport to any country you can think of in the world?

Do you know foreign investments and investors are all over the city?

Hope you know people who troop in to Kano just to order cars are more than those going to Lagos and Cotonou put together? Everything in Kano is relatively cheap!

Hope you know Kano state is the "Centre of Commerce"

Are you aware there are over 70 Hotels in the city- Kano? (not state).

Who compares Lagos with a state like Akwa ibom? The number of school kids in Lagos is probably same with the entire population of Akwa Ibom and yet even with less money than Akwa Ibom, Lagos state still managed to build new schools and invest more in education that akwa ibom where the governor is yet to build one single school.

Eko Atlantic was only telling you that Awolowo had paid the price and sacrificed for us to know the importance of education to the people of southwest earlier before any ethnic group. so we dnt need any yeye free education at the tertiary level which can't be sustained with the current arrangement in Nigeria unless we go back to regional govt.

Why are you confusing yourself by wrapping yourself into more falsehood. Dancing yahooze to the music of azonto is not a very good idea, I must advise you.
Did Awolowo have "any yeye" free tertiary education

Lawmaker’s scholarship lifts 75 pupils

The lawmaker representing Lagos East in the Senate, Gbenga Ashafa, has charged parents to support their children’s education to the tertiary level. Ashafa made the charge in Epe last weekend during the presentation of scholarships to 75 indigent pupils in Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The pupils, drawn from various public schools, were selected by the Gbenga Ashafa Educational Enhancement Programme.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, the lawmaker told the pupils to make judicious use of the grants.

He urged the parents to see education as a potent tool for development and always support their wards’ quest for it. He added that the programme is aimed and sustaining pupils’ interest in education.

He said: “Today’s occasion serves as a pilot project for the indigent students in public schools throughout the Lagos East senatorial district. Support for education has always been an integral part of our programmes.

“Under this scheme, a lot of success has been recorded. In the last three months, over 10,000 copies of writing materials, mathematical sets and rain coats were distributed throughout schools in my senatorial district. This is not to mention the different categories of scholarships and various financial assistances, all to keep the interest of our children in education.”

The chairman of the Gbenga Ashafa Educational Enhancement Programme in the local government, Oba Ganiu Aderibigbe, Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture.

“We thank our amiable Senator Ashafa for this initiative. Without this scholarship, the implication would have been to have these children out of schools without completing their studies, which has the potential to constitute nuisance in our community,” he said.

The beneficiaries, who were indigenes and non-indigenes of Lagos State, were selected across communities in the LCDA. One of them, Abraham Mercy, a Primary 5 pupil of Anglican Primary School, Ajebo, said she almost stopped schooling when her parents could not afford to pay. She appreciated the senator’s gesture, saying: “Thank you sir, Senator Ashafa, for this scholarship; I will go back to complete primary school.”

At the programme were the LCDA chairman, Hon. Segun Adetoba, leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Epe division, Chief Lanre Rasaq, Commissioner II in Lagos State Civil Service, Mr Wasiu Odeyemi, traditional rulers from Ikorodu, Epe, Agbowa and Ikosi-Ejirin among others.

30 X 12 = 360.
499 - 360 = 130 GAP.

Can you tell us where the 130 billion is coming from and/or how the budgetary GAP will be filled

Travel out of your comfort zone and reflect.
#FriendlyAdvice.

You said the IGR is N30 Billion, but that was a lie because it's not N30 billion hence me correcting you and highlighting your lies. It's N20 billion.

Lagos Generates N20bn IGR Monthly

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/lagos-generates-n20bn-igr-monthly/147329/

20 x 12 = 240

240 + 10 X 12 IGR = N360 billion.

So at the end of the day, Lagos state ends up with just N360 billion

Now about the gap that's confusing you. It's called budget deficit and deficit financing aka Borrowing to finance the budget. They borrow money to fill the gap...

Lagos to run on deficit budgeting till 2013

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/05/lagos-to-run-on-deficit-budgeting-till-2013/

So, your math was not only wrong, your assertions and deductions was ignorant and ill informed. You can not always substitute facts with lies and ignorance like you do here on NL just because people let you get away with it..

Lagos state is still functioning under budget deficits hence the gap you cluelessly and ignorantly failed to account for.

Even with Lagos IGR and allocation, it's still one of the poorest states in Nigeria. The huge IGR you people like to talk about is peanuts compared to other states like Rivers and Akway Ibom budgeting over N500 billion and N470 billion respectively with ease IGR or no IGR and their population and responsibility is not even half of Lagos state's.

It's not always how much you have, it's always what you do with what you have.

We've seen what Lagos state is doing with the little they have and what these other state's with more money and larger budgets are doing with what they have and Lagos state is still ahead..

Instead of worrying about me traveling out of my comfort zone, you might want to spend more time educating yourself and quit displaying ignorance and foolishness on the internet..

I have reserved my comment on this issue of bullet proof cars because of people from a particular tribe who dominates wherever they are given appointment. They are quick to see tribalism in any issue. While madam spent money from her oil company to finance 2011 elections, she is free to award contracts and buy cars. After getting Capt. Harold Demurin out of office, before the new NCAA DG settles in office, I know with the internal collaborators from a particular section of the country a lot of deals would have taken place.

The tribe is the greatest strength of the present regime. Well done , you are in power by proxy, carry go. no case. Sanusi should not lobby for second term as governor. They should bring their kins man as governor. Let us see. Happy centenary celebration in advance. It is a one tribe affair

That airport was a sheer waste of money.
The only time it has any semblance of use is during hajj
That is not enough for the fed govt to waste such money
A simple analysis of travelers will tell us most international travelers in nigeria are from the south
But for politics the international airports should have been located in Lagos,Abuja,PH and somewhere in the Enugu / Onitsha area
Put an international airport in this 4 th location,I assure you the traffic to Lagos will reduce by half but Nigeria doesn't work by common sense.
Aboki wanted one and got it.

Your comment (highlighted) shows that you don't know Kano as you claimed.
FYI, the Kano Airport was an international airport long before you were even conceived; among the ones you mentioned above its only Lagos that may have preceded it in that capacity, therefore there was nothing like aboki wanted one and got it - stop lying.

As for the drop in flights, one probable reason might be a politic one, such as forcing some airlines away from that route to one's own region e.g. Qatar Airlines being forced to fly to Enugu Airport instead of its prefered Kano route by the present embattled Aviation Minister - whose nyash is being blown wide open because her corrupt antics.
