As an Android developer and a very fast learner that can master python in the shortest time possible, I will apply! I am ready to work fulltime, to build an arganisation. My problem is I love working for very long hours, I don't mind to spend 20hours on the system if I can just have snacks or food, I hate wasting 30min - 1hr going for food. I need not to go away from my system just because I am hungry. I will love to work with other programmers. I love to be a programmer working as a programmer all my life! I know java and have already developed two Android Apps, I can know Python in two weeks and head towards mastery in a month. I am so passionate about programming, It will be a huge dream come true if Seun take me & I am sure he will never regret.

My intense desire for this will not allow me to rest, I keep on checking for a possible reply to know my stance. I think I need this cos its what I always wanted do. I hope I make it cos I'm already putting my darling Native Android development on hold for Python and SQL.

@Seun please when are we gonna get the feed back on this? I've got some companies inviting me for a programmer position but IMHO its Nairaland I want, and I am to make my conclusive decision in a week from now. Hope to hear fr u soon.

Seun: We don't want to hire developers who can only program in PHP, because PHP is a very limited language. However, the original wording mistakenly excluded programmers who can write web apps in PHP but can also create desktop or mobile apps with better languages like C#. We don't mind hiring such programmers because it would be quite easy for them to learn to write web apps in Python, so we've corrected it.

It is a bad idea to judge a developer from his/her choice of language. Any "good developer" can take up any language and perfect it within a short time.

PHP is a shitty language no doubt, definitely less shitty than JavaScript but have seen :

- Desktop Application developed in JavaScript intended of Python/C# (Windows Metro App)
- Mobile Application using (PhoneGap) better UI & faster than a similar Python/C# Implementation
- Web Server using Nodejs better than sample implementation written in Python Twisted/C#

In the enterprise world, use the best tool for the best JOB. Rust || Erlang is 10 times better than Python || C# "depending on the use case" but this does not mean a "Rust" developer is better than "Python" or vice vasa

Even Google has stopped hiring based on language but on skill set.

Is there a possibility of working from home i.e for those who live in another state and can't relocate?

I don't think this is necessary. If a developer understands how to bend an ORM to his will, he must not be confined to SQL. What you're proposing here is that your developers remain crude: vanilla javascript as opposed to any of its libraries or coffeescript, CSS as opposed to LESS or SASS, SQL as opposed to ORMs. This is backward.

Also, an ORM directly translated into OOP which is a direct consequence of Entity Relations which happens to be how the web is modelled nowadays with all these "resource" lingo flying around. It may be better to succumb to this new movement than hold on to the archaic means of development.

I think every programming has its downside but I think PHP is much better than Python. PHP is evolving into the programming language of the future
