Have ever pondered over the possibility for the same set of men to have continuosly dominate the axis of Power in this country?

Why hasn't the opposition, despite severalcoup attempts, a civil war, an annulled election, and several rallies of civil disobidience, been able to put a stop to this perpetuation of power in the hands of a few? Why hasn't the local intellectual community- so revered for its doggedness and creative acumen- been able to figure out a way of dislodging this power establishment? And indeed why, in a nation of such consumately educated people, hasn't a university graduate ever ruled the nation in all its 48 year history?
