Beaf!:
WHEN PEOPLE CREATE TOPICS TO DISCUSS ELECTRICITY IN A COUNTRY THEN THERE IS A PROBLEM.

Where I live power outtage breaks the news.
Power is only switched off by natural disasters not some drunken PHCN staff.
why don't you look for a forum where you live and discuss the problems peculiar to that place. This isn't about you, get it?

I used to stay in Ibadan, and there is this particular norms in IB, during Ramadan some of their rich muslim men pay (Bribe) PHCN to allow them use the light throughout the month of Ramadan. I AM VERY SURE OF THIS.

anu4kwan: The truth is that Electrical power has improve in my area for the past 2 month in rivers state.

Pls do not generalize it as not all parts of Phc enjoys it. This is generally due to overloaded or aged transformers. The electricity supply is there but its not being transmitted successfully for the benefit of majority.

Anvaller: well, forgive me for this little digression,

I just want to point something out. Some guys are using the term "light" some may not know that this is not correct. I am just raising this issue due to a past thread where the quality of our spoken English was discussed and many think there is nothing wrong in the way we speak. I also use the term "light" but will never use it (and or Nigerian English in general) in a public forum or while conversing with native English speakers, they mostly confuse "light" to mean "day-time" in context until u explain what u mean...

Just saying.
well noted actually i intentionally used light instead of power since dats wats commonly used by nigerians and dis is a nigerian forum where at least 95% understands wat i mean so hav been able to pass my message across no time following evry damn rule in english language just for passing a simple mssage across.tanks

ninja4life: For the past 3 days we've had 24hrs light in my area at oke-ado/oke bola axis In Ibadan

For about 2weeks now. we've had atleast 18hours light in my area.

Is there any improvement in the power in your area.

I will also like to know if the private sector as taken full control of PHNC?

It seems the constant power supply is partly due to rainfall, so i will like nairalanders to state the state of power supply in your area.

Note:am not supporting any apc or pdp cos they are all the same to me, thieving bastards i only want to know how power supply is in other area before i get addicted to this constant power supply which may affect me when nepa disappoints.

thanks
you suppose to know there is good power supply during rainy season

In my area, Mgbuoba in Phc, electricity has improved a bit in the sense that there is upto 12 hours supply in 2-3 days and then goes off for like a week and then come again for another 2-3 days and so on. However, at the back of NTA Phc, people are not enjoying the electricity supply cause of overloaded transformer. This 12 hours of electricity we don't enjoy cos of very low voltage that cannot even power a TV set. A new transformer has been installed by NDDC and we have been waiting for its commissioning to enable us benefit from atleast this 12 hours of supply. we are patiently waiting.......

When you are talking about electricity supply,Ibadan is among the states with very bad electrity. Let me tell some reasons behind this trend: 1:Most landlords or landladies in Ibadan prefare to use wooden electric poles for power source instead of the concrete ones. Any rainfall in ibadan comes with a lot of fallen poles, resulting in epileptic power supply. 2: the ibadan indigenes are very relaxed people, if nepa like they don't bring the light for two years, you won't see any youth or landlords going to nepa to complain. 3: nepa officials take forever to respond to emergency. The only area in ibadan with good electricity is Oluyole and Okeado. But I personally can't live in Okeado, its too populated and too dirty. Oluyole is nice and also expensive. The people need to be more concerned and use the right materials in directing their power source.
