What are u talking about? With no dependents whatsoever. Do you know what the average monthly earning in Lagos is? Its far below that. The only problem is if she will have to pay rent and if her home is not close to work. Also depends on how sound and fuel efficient her car is. She should be very comfortable compared to the average situation in Lagos. 1 Like |

Erelu_Y: Our baby of the family is returning to Lagos from the UK and the lecturing job on offer pays around ₦130,000 per month. Can a single person used to UK lifestyle survive on this income in today's Lagos? If so, how? She's not extravagant but lives a basic, decent lifestyle: no partying, clubbing, etc, (her only weakness is she likes and does have a nice 4 x 4 which suits Naija's bad roads), just a typical acada girl. Your contributions would be highly appreciated. Thanks. It all depends on the cost of renting house or apartment. If she rent house of 20K to 30K she can survive............. but if she rent house of 80K to 100K, she will not survive. The advise is sew ur coat according to ur cloth/garment/material not size. U can not sew according to ur size if u have very big body and got small clothe or garment. 2 Likes |

130 is more than enough to take care of her... I live in abuja, earn less, pay my rent, yet as God has been faithful, I've not begged anyone. So, she's welcome back to Naija... . Let the hustle begin!!! 3 Likes |

I know many people that earn about N35k a month and even less, and yet they survive. Ask all those bank cashiers and telecoms call-centre agents how much they earn. N130k/month would be a dream for many people. However, for someone used to the comforts and decency associated with life in the UK, N130k a month might not be enough to replicate that lifestyle in Lagos. It all depends on lifestyle choices. |

Freiburger: What is wise in intentionally reducing one own's lifespan? What could be the reason behind that? Patriotism? For a country who dosen't care about me?hmmm!.... #interesting! so, moving back home to a decent country where i can call myself a first class citizen and and not a monkey by one drunk white football hooligan or treated as a second class citizen because am a Nigerian or black is worth dieing for? I bet you are not in uK. taxes alone are enough to reduce your life span let alone other stuffs like discrimination. If Nigeria doesn't care about, the country you are in presently, does it care about U? does it treat u specially because u are black or a nigerian? does it treat it u like the other first class citizens in that country? if your answer is (yes) to all the questions, then i wish u Luck and never come back to Nigeria ever again thanks as for me, am back home.. living Nigerian Dream... Why is it that people just respond to issues raised on NL without fully understanding the contexts of those issues. The main cause of concern for Erelu who posed the question is the fact that the impending returnee is already used to her living standards in the UK. If she comes back on a 130K salary, would she get something similar or close? This to me means taking consideration some of our peculiar challenges like lack of regular power, water, etc. Would she have to spend money out of that salary providing some of those necessities for herself? 9 Likes |

Its possible provided she has free accommodation for minimum of 6 months. Probably family or friends. Secondly as soon as she starts she should also keep looking for a job with better pay. Wish her all the best. |
