Placing ur bible under the pillow is an Africanized protection habit. While waving a hard copy bible is a result of too much nollywood or all d woods. Let us stick to the word not the basement where the word rests, as this word is even engraven as a tablet on our hearts. May God help us to understand Him more an more. Amen

He that called on name of Jehovah would be saved.Rom10:13. It is holy spirit that does the wonder not the paper or whatsoever. the truth is that many pastors think bible can expel demon. NO.my only take is paper form should be used in place of worship till all hands are equal. if all members could have ebook device like kindle that would be good. for now use e-bible will tempt other to steal in order to get ipad.

Have you come across someone who told you the moment He/she opened the bible "my eyes fell on that passage!"?
Also, you cannot underline the soft copy..
The words look raw and practical on tangible pages
you'd get tired of reading it more easily because of the light emanating from the screen.
Though, in certain aspects, the software is good. We arent totally brushing it aside. It can help in word search...and maybe reading it where you cannot open your Bible. BUT, DONT USE IT IN THE CHURCH

Its not spiritual to carry phones into the sanctuary of God in place of physical bibles... Im only saying that to REAL Christians

So, What/Who defines a 'real' Christian? You? Your pastor? Your sentiments?

Sorry but I doubt you've used any of the current bible apps lately.
'you cannot underline the soft copy..'
- you can indeed highlight softcopy for future reference.

'The words look raw and practical on tangible pages'
..meh..someone probably complained that the words had less impact when they started writing on scrolls as opposed to carving them into stones.

'you'd get tired of reading it more easily because of the light emanating from the screen.'
- you can control the brightness and contrast. Some apps even make the screen adjust the its surrounding lighting. (i know, crazy right?)

Fact is, us humans don't like change. It takes conscious effort to accept that things have changed around us before we begin to adapt to it.

I know of churches here in England that have embraced this and swapped their hymn books for ipads as it saves money on the long run.

The added advantages outway any possible arguments critics string up.
- You can access scriptures faster. (books can be viewed alphabetically and verses and chapters are easily viewed as opposed to flipping through pages)

- You can bookmark verses and even take notes (pretty neat!)

- You can download so many versions. (the files are pretty small and are most likely free)

- Audio versions are readily available (access for the blind or visually impaired)

- And the best pro; its not heavy and is always with you.

On a more frank note...you're reading your virtual bible on a BB, say you're meditating on it as obliged; and you got a ping..tell me won't you be distracted?

Or better still, you have your holy book on your phone..and on it you keep explicit photography..is that sacred anyone?

Tell me, can the virtual bible repel an attack from demons? Never!!!

Do not be fooled or deceived, technology is good and modernization is okay to some instance but never should it take the place of God's work in your hand..while using an iPad in the church or mosque..you can be tempted to switch over to something else in the course of the service. but if you are with the printed copy, and you're disciplined, nothing, I say nothing can distract you...He that has an ear, let him hear....#SimpleTruth

@ the capitalized, thats the word. Whether you use the virtual or printed form of the bible, it takes discipline not to be distracted.

'Or better still, you have your holy book on your phone..and on it you keep explicit photography..is that sacred anyone?'

- I think the person crosses that 'sacred' line when he/she views sexually explicit images.

'Do not be fooled or deceived, technology is good and modernization is okay to some instance but never should it take the place of God's work in your hand'

- but it's ok to have it in your heart..right?

'you can be tempted to switch over to something else in the course of the service. but if you are with the printed copy, and you're disciplined, nothing, I say nothing can distract you'

- as someone mentioned, discipline is the word.

so u r pratically saying dat if i wave my ipad/iphone during an attack, demon go run?
this is what too much Nollywood movies do to people.
You think the bible is some sort of bullet proof vest you just wave about and demons will start flying... The word has to be inscribed in the heart. "we are not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, wickedness in the high places..."
Remember the WORD was once in a scroll, from scroll to book, from book, now going electronic... it goes with the era...

1. Should Holy books adopt a permanent form, model, version?
2. Do versions affect the power and spiritual effects of a scripture?
Do those 'Holy Books' actually posses any form of power?

Do those 'Holy Books' actually posses any form of power?
3. Why should a virtual holy book or e-book not be acceptable for worship?
4. Is the version that matters or the contents (i.e the message)?
5. Is it wrong to use a virtual holy e-book? Is it evil? Does God frown at modernisation? Civilisation? Modification? Virtualisation of worship?
Answering your questions
2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

1. Should Holy books adopt a permanent form, model, version?

I'll say NO.[as long as the word and meaning remains undiluted, unchanged]

2. Do versions affect the power and spiritual effects of a scripture?

again I'll say No [as long as the word and meaning remains undiluted, unchanged]

3. Why should a virtual holy book or e-book not be acceptable for worship?

You'll agree with me that many of us have on our virtual gadgets demonic material like [ Pono-movies, demonic music, X-Pics...etc]. now, imagine been confronted by a demon and you swave your ipad [with holy bible software installed] also having his kingdom property exceeding the gb or mb your holy bible has... meeeehn!!!! [you are in a dangerous soup]

4. Is the version that matters or the contents (i.e the message)?
My brother... ITS THE MESSAGE!!!

5. Is it wrong to use a virtual holy e-book? Is it evil? Does God frown at modernisation? Civilisation? Modification? Virtualisation of worship?

No!!! as long as its used ONLY for the purpose of the holy bible. you can be in church with your virtual bible during sermon and then a call comes in or BBM broadcast comes in them you are distracted. reason why pastors frown at its usage. if you have the the palm top bible i think its ok!!1

Philippians 4:5...Let your moderation be known unto all men. be careful you dont make others sin
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Peace sir.

Sorry you dont have a point.

What about people watching indecency on tv with the same eyes they use in reading the bible.

What about people with indecent lifestyle and they still go to church

what about people who like to hold indecent stuffs in their hands and also use the same hand to carry bible to church

the list is endless.

The life is changing rapidly we are not in stone age or bronze age anymore. this is computer age and we all have to live with.

Mark my words A TIME IS STILL COMING WHERE THE USE OF PAPER WILL BE STOPPED. Everything will be electronic.

i dont blame you because those people during ice age to this present day are still scared of change.

Carrying ur bible around or keepin ur bible beside ur bed is spiritual, is just like keeping a gun under ur bed for security.
U want it handy not just for reading but for praying.if its the holder that counts why do we see n hear testimonies where people claim their bible on its own worked wonders without or wit little assistance frm dem, wud dis still be d case if d bible is on ur phone?
If u keep ur bible under ur pillow at nyt for protection, can d one on ur fone serve same purpose?
