problem is not even the kidnappers, there are sections with very dangerous pot holes and tiny lanes and they are mostly poorly lit

It depends, I love travellin at night, cos of d appointments i've got to meet smetimes. If ua travln frm lets say frm kano-abuja-(lokoja)-ondo-lagos its safe, i didnt use kogi as a state because of okene, dat town is very dangerous. Hmm am afraid gointu d east at nyt is nt also adviceable, robbers haven. So make ur choice.

Yes it will be safe in 2020

1. When we have good roads.
2. There are highway lights.
3. People value their self prestige and will rather die than steal or rob.

Yes, I have travelled from the north to the south and east at night many times. I still travelled from lagos to zaria this last week thursday at night. I have never had any security issue, its more convienent for me to travel at night and its difficult to get day transportation from north to the east and SS

The inter states roads have been rehabilitated and they are in good shape.
The only significant risk possible is armed-robbery.
Fortunately,i have never encountered any robbery during any of my night-travels.

ebdib: Don't try it. The roads aren't even lit. Network may not be found on many roads

Are u serieus?, u want light an express/highway?, even as rich as Germany and France their highways are not lit, only exits and entrances that have lights. No wonder most people are having impossible dreams and expectation from the government.

it aint safe @ all.any journey dat involves OKENE as route, pls repent b4 starting.am yet to recover from wat does aboki boys did to us in okene..on mai way to abuja..dey striped us all of our money and clothes and touched to dai fills till d police arrived....dat road is bad
Re: Is Interstates Road Travel At Night Safe In Nigeria? by bknight: 7:13pm On Jul 15, 2013
Now you asked...come to think of it: accidents (both night&day) and robbery incidents seems to have reduced drastically.
We don't hear so many of the ills of abuja-lagos route as we used to. The accidents at that lokoja narrow road with a sharp bend, the luxurious bus robberies etc

I hope I'm still in Nigeria sha undecided

Kindly elaborate on what you mean by "touched to dai fills". It must have been a harrowing experience though.

Nigerian roads are getting better everyday. Onitsha-Benin-Lagos and Lagos-Benin-Onitsha-Port Harcourt has been my route for the past 6months. The road is quite good and safe, because there are pockets of Patrol by security operatives on those corridors. I also last month, I plied Benin-Onitsha-Awka-Enugu. Another good route for nite travels are Onitsha-Benin-Abuja.

Is interstates road travel in the night safe in Nigeria? Can one travel from Lagos to lets say Anambra by road in the

night and not worry about armed robbers or kidnapers? Can one travel from Ibadan to Abuja and not have to give a single

naira to the police? And are the roads safe enough to travel at night? if you know the answers to these questions please

Very safe between 12 midnight and 3am especially Benin-Asaba Road.
Re: Is Interstates Road Travel At Night Safe In Nigeria? by PStacks(m): 10:15pm On Jul 15, 2013
Actually it depends on a number of things..

You definately can't travel with your personal car.

The trick for me is that I don't travel night journey with my own car.. I go in those Luxurious buses, the buses move in convoy and some of them come with armed escorts..
The permutation is, as a sharp guy, the bus has over 50 passengers, even if Armed rubbers attack, u sure won't be the weakest link in over 50 peps. U take off..
But travelling with your private car for night journey is suicide mission.
But if you no get liver, no form of night journey is advice able.
Re: Is Interstates Road Travel At Night Safe In Nigeria? by Nobody: 10:26pm On Jul 15, 2013
I think you have your answer..

Na suicide mission.

Pally, if you know you value your life, don't try travelling at nite in Nigeria. Not only are the chances of being robbed high, but you might end up being unluckier if the policemen you report to end up arresting you as a "suspect" or even the DPO being the leader of the robbers.
Re: Is Interstates Road Travel At Night Safe In Nigeria? by ogb5(m): 11:02pm On Jul 15, 2013
its very safe if you know how to do it.

Just charter a Helicopter, fly above the road a just 1000ft, you can travel along the roads you have mentioned in that suspended state anytime of the day or night, No police, Army, Boko haram, militant, robbers, kidnappers or pothole will trouble you.

But if you choose to travel on the road in a car in the night, no problem also. Just write your will, call your family together, bid them final farewell and head out on the suicide mission confronting the 7 hazards listed above.

And remember to post your last post on NL to bid us final farewell before you commence the journey.

Re: Is Interstates Road Travel At Night Safe In Nigeria? by Rhea(f): 11:23pm On Jul 15, 2013
Yes it is very safe, especially benin-ore road. Just tie one fresh human head on top of your bonnet and I'm sure you will sail through. Also rub some white powder under your eyes like otokoto priest, and tie some palm fronds behind your car. Sprinkle some tortoise blood on all 4 tires. When anybody stops you just ask the person which room number in hell they want you to reserve for them

Even in the US the interstates are not lit, only the rest stops and exit and entrance ramps.
