I don't think there is anything wrong in this.. Reason:

Jesus is actually a Hebrew name that is originally spelt and pronounced as Yeshua, meaning Deliverer or Rescuer.. Many Hispanics also name their children Jesus pronounces 'ye sue'. So no biggie here.

Now Christ is not a name per se but an adjective that qualifies Jesus. That's why the bible would have passages where Jesus was asked ' are you the Christ'. This is because Christ simply means 'messiah', hence the referring to Jesus as Jesus the Christ.

So if your friend chooses to name her child Jesus Christ, it's not a problem at all. The name wasn't what made Jesus who he was.

Oh, coming from Okija Juju

@OP: when did names start having protective power, if you name your child Jesus and he doesn't a Christlike life, it's of no use. Name the babe Jesus if you will and train him up in the way of the Lord.

Naming a kid Jesus for protection is akin to putting your Bible under your pillow for protection.

pls i beg u dont try it, For God has highly exalted HIM and giving HIM a name that is above all other name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow
Re: . by mollie12: 10:49pm On Aug 11, 2013
Do people actually think like this or is the OP just trying to stir up conversation?

Please that lady friend of yours is highly misinformed. No NAME given to any body born of woman is enough to drive away evil spirits. You have to seek protection for that through the only proper channel, which is prayer.

I can't believe people saying its okay cos spaniards and mexicans name their kids Jesus. Omo we live in Nigeria oh! There is already a perception tied to that name in this society of ours, so if you are not sure your child will live up to that expectation, save that unborn baby a lifetime of sorrow and give him/her another name. Let's not begin to mention the attendant headaches - school registrations, JAMB (let's hope they don't trash his form several times thinking its some hyper-religious person putting in that name for good luck), social interactions, etc. And last but not the least, the constant blasphemy you lead people into every single time they want to call that child's attention. She has obviously not thought this through - please she should just look for another name for her child.

What do you think of this guy i work with, his name is Lucifer Wang. I don't think it's a big deal but it depends on you area.
Re: . by milad4love(m): 11:34pm On Aug 11, 2013
morewealth: Jesus is appropriate as a name for your unborn child. Adding Christ will make it seem as if you are dragging equality with God.
Is Jesus your God?
Re: . by milad4love(m): 11:44pm On Aug 11, 2013
The only reason why you can not add christ to a child's name is because jesus is the name why christ is the title given to jesus........... Pls dont confuse Jesus christ with God,,,, God is the only creator while Jesus christ is one of his Anointed Creation

Naming the child Jesus for me is ok. But Jesus Christ...AHHHHH....No No for me

spongeback: My pregnant friend and i are arguing right now she says when she gives birth she wants to name her child Jesus Christ so that people won't be able to hurt her child so is it really right or is it blasphemous?

Topeedo: ...i wonder why people talk about christ like its a mystery word specially sent from heaven specially for Jesus and nobody has heard or understood d meanin before Jesus came...christ simply means the anointed...it wasnt his surname...duh... is it still gonna b bad if i replace d hebrew word christ wit d anointed?
There are people (common with those from South East and South South)that bears that name 'anointed'. I think it's better than calling him 'Christ' *but sincerely, they mean the same but in different language lipsrsealed

tintingz: There is a spanish player that bears "jesus" without any addings...this is a costume name in the spanish world

Jesús Navas González (Spanish pronunciation: [xeˈsuz ˈnaβaz ɣon ˈθaleθ]; born 21 November 1985) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Manchester City. A right winger, his main assets are his quick dribbling and an ability to run at opposing defenders.

www.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jess_Navas

I know him.

As you can see even from Wiki, his Jesus has a lil mark on the "u ".

As you can see even from Wiki again, he's not pronounced "G saws" but "xe suz".

Re: . by Richyflow(m): 9:33pm On Aug 12, 2013

That's the spanish pronunciation of jesus even jesus christ. So don't make it seem like it is a different name. Besides, maryam, his mother called him Yeshua. So what's so special abt d greek contraption that people would be scared to bear the name Jesus?

Now i can see, it is people like your girlfriend that make most Christians prayers to not be answered because when we pray, our prayers are transferred to some human being that chose to bear the name of our saviour, there are so many names to choose, why Jesus Christ or even Jesus. The name is just too powerful to just be messed around with. Even demon tremble at the word Jesus talk less of the full Jesus Christ. You name the child Jesus what if the child end up fighting people. Dont use the name
