English soccer club Arsenal have agreed a three-year deal with Nigeria's Sterling Bank. The partnership will lead to the creation of a range of co-branded debit cards in the country. Additional benefits will include
merchandise promotions and opportunities for Sterling Bank's Nigerian customers to get tickets to the Premier League side's home matches at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal Soccer School coaches will also
participate in youth coaching programmes for Sterling Bank in Nigeria. The financial terms of the deal were not released.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Sterling Bank, a highly respected financial establishment, to offer Arsenal branded debit cards to our millions of fans in Nigeria," said Arsenal's head of global
partnerships, Vinai Venkatesham. "We look forward to building a strong and successful relationship in the years to come."
London-based Arsenal, who are currently playing in Japan as part of a pre-season Asian tour, have worked to grow their international sponsorship portfolio in deals with the likes of Kenya's Imperial Bank and Indonesia's Telkomsel.
The Gunners will kick off their 2013/14
Premier League campaign at home to Aston Villa on 17th August.
