This is what really transpired in benin airport the Chairman in charge of tax for Edo State government closed down the adminstrative office of the manager of the airport which is outside the airport because they refused to pay tax they owed Edo State government to the tune of 19 million naira the airport manager then close the airport entrance and exit gates. Passengers were stranded some were outside and others inside the airport. The ones inside had to pass through a wired fence to leave the airport.
The manager of the airport slapped the camera of a journalist twice who was covering event and the journalist reacted but the police were there and controlled the situation and the manager refused to speak to journalist but the chairman spoke to journalist and instructed that the padlock used to close the gate should be destroyed at the Chairman orders the gate was forced open.
The IG instructed the commissioner of police in Edo State to arrest the chairman of Edo State tax. And the Comrade Governor was not happy but after the IG was fully briefed that it was not Edo State government that shut the airport he ordered the immediate release of the chairman
