“It was then I noticed that there were some people who could not alight from the trailer on their own and the driver and some policemen helped them and brought them down. Immediately after dropping them, the lorry and the police van made a “U” turn and headed back to Head Bridge” (NOTE: some of the deporteess were so weak that they could not alight from the van)

5. One of them (deportees) who gave her name as Chima said he hails from Abia State, adding that she was arrested some time in May last year by a group of people in uniform on her way to Okokomaiko in Lagos where she lived.
She said that she was kept in a dark room that looked like a warehouse for several days along with many other people, adding that up till the time she was brought into Onitsha, she never knew what she did that warranted her arrest.
She also said that many of those arrested along with her died in detention

6. One of them (deportees) who gave her name as Chima said: “I was on my way home to Okokomaiko in Lagos when a group of young men accosted me and took me to a place I do not know. 7. Another (deportee) who gave his name as John Irabor from Benin, Edo State said he and his fellow inmates had a traumatic time while they were in detention. He insisted that he did not commit any crime and said they were neither charged to any court nor incarcerated in prison.
His words: “While we were in detention, they fed us only once a day and even when the food was brought, it usually tasted bad. If you look at us, you will see that we were treated badly.”

Between 2007 and 20011, the state dispatched 3,029 persons, excluding 15 foreign beggars, from Lagos according to LASG records. In mid 2011, 196 beggars were repatriated to Sokoto State, 83 to Oyo State, 75 to Kano State, 67 to Osun State, 21 to Ekiti State, and 7 to Ondo State. How come none of those deportees complained of inhuman treatment meted out to them by LASG? Even the first batch of deportees that arrived in the East sometimes back, never complained of inhuman treatment. How come none of them(new set of deportees) was able to give their home address in Lagos? At least if they were falsely accused and not homeless, they would have stated their address(es) in their "testimonies". One can give a false testimony, especially a testimony coming from a displeased deportee who sees Lagos as the Promised Land. This is sheer blackmail.
