Might sound funny unfortunately it a basic fact, as much as we are rated one of the most "CORRUPT" nation in the world, Nigerians are still regarded as one of the "SMARTEST" people in the World, I have traveled to several countries, mostly Africa countries, I have friends in different part of the world, it marvels me how some of this intelligent people I had intellectual conversation with see Nigerians, this put me on a ease mode, this also bothers me, I came to a total realization” they might actually be right You know, Majority of this people has visited Nigeria before, they shared their views: Yeah Nigerians are Smart, Hardworking, educated with rich culture unfortunately we lack planning, they do not spend time on foundation, we are impatient in our different ways, we want solutions NOW! A typical Nigerian will rather chase physical visual returns, than vision returns, That one of the things we still suffer from Economically. lack of transparency and lack of proper accountability, We Nigerians are all about instant remedy, it only in Nigeria you find a person building a Manson on a planning that cant facilitate such structure, Most cases they ignore the road, even if the owner of the house can comfortably afford to do something about the road, not necessarily as to be money, we all know in Nigeria "CONNECTION" moves mountain, Rather this person would Build the house with a tall fence all the way up, get a tinted glassed Jeep, In every landlord association meeting/ gathering, he comes up with the government are not doing anything slogan. we cannot always wait for the government to knock on our doors to deliver solutions, we should apply smartness in simple equations like this. Come to think of it, if other house owner or VIP personnel follow suit, imagine what your neighborhood would look like years from now. I love FASH” plant a tree concept, very creative, I just hope the concept will continue after his regime or it might turn out to be waste of time project "TYPICAL. Sirs at the top, it would be nice to also come with a concept of "BE THE AMBASSADOR OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD" this concept will facilitate people who are in position to build big houses to work hand in hand with the government to improve their Neighborhood, Places that are outreaching of the government plans will benefit from this. Some months back I was watching our Finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on CNN, Mehn “ the woman was making sense ( I know not everyone agrees with this view), most of my friends said she was lying, I told them at least the lies sound reasonable, the lies still make sense pass our Mr No 1 man, not because we are being fooled rather because she was able to say some vital solution tips, which we all know is workable Unfortunately I cant figure why they can't apply the tips over the years now, should we just blame it on corruption ? Corruption is now a household brand, I'm actually thinking of creating a physical brand with the name self, even 2 years old kid can spell it better than spelling the word FAMILY, gone are those days, they secretly embezzle money, this days mehn na right at your face” Oya make una do wetin una fit do" Yeah we are smart enough to see this but the only place we voice out our anger and express our smartness is forums like this " we went as far as giving it our own word that is applicable to us as “NATIONAL CAKE or NATIONAL TREASURE”. No, doubt, corruption is one major problem but as anyone talked about ways and how we can tackle them, I mean as anyone really stood up to it, I know something certainly, our economy as evolve to the stage if we don't work towards it now, even our grand kids will not see the great developed Nigeria we hope for, “UGLY TRUTH." It is now a traditional trend that whoever is elected is bound to chop inside the national cake without even throwing anything for ground for the masses to eat. Here is my point' severally, we have leaders running 8 years, over the years we cant give account for a credible accomplishment from any of our past elected leaders , We have all complained and complained but nothing as changed, enough of the complaining, Thank God for Nairaland and the extreme intelligent people here, have been part of this site since 2008, I understand back then it will get to this point someday were Nigerians and friends around the world can share their views, let move our argument from wrongs we already know, to solutions and how we can infuse and tackle them” Here are my few thoughts and questions. Election ridging" Do we really trust the whole election procedure? Is our election system reliable? What the guarantee we get who we elected ? If not, What the solution. Enough of the usual promises during rally where candidates infects us with false and empty promises, the whole boring whatever Amount of point agenda line, C’mon sir' That a very Old line, Be brave to tell them, I think it better for each candidate who is passionate and willing to create a positive impact should focus more of his/her attention on the vital issue we have being struggling to solve for ages. Sir' when you are leaving the office lets remember you for solving either electricity, security, road or unemployment rate. It is logical to eat from the treasure, eat reasonably, create legacy you will be remembered for when you leave the office. You can never be on top forever. Vanity upon vanity is lost, If the masses are not capable to judge you, remember your grand kids will judge you, curse and condemn you in your grave for not creating any positive impact with the opportunity given to you. I'm not a fan of politics or a writer, just pouring out my mind as e dey pain me, the reason for this post is to read your opinion too. cheers #Otunbamyke# 2 Likes |

I think we should encourage debates amongst this politicians rather than listening to empty manifestos during rallys that way we can be more interactive and intellectual analysis can be carried out by us.. i was marvelled at how BRF stood out among his counterparts during the governorship debate 2 years ago. We know what's good for us but corruption has been the major impediment to progress in this country.. smh |

What you said is actually the truth But you lost me on that IWEALA stuff. I personally believe that the woman is full of crap. All she regurgitates are business school stuffs and elementary economics Cordinating minister of the economy ?if there is one thing this government lacks , it is coordination . OBY ekwesili is more coordinated , focused and result oriented What you see is 1a lack of prioritisation in projects 2haphazard award of contracts many of which do not have strategic national usefulness 3a total disregard for project of national importance 4wasteful spending 5a descent into a debt spiral |

bloggernaija: What you said is actually the truth You made some vital points too, i know not everyone will support my personal view on Iweala interview, what i was trying to clarify is" if she was smart enough to talk about some ways to tackle the problem we are facing, which sounded like a reasonable lie, then why cant they apply it, i think she took away my curiosity about her team leader being clueless, personally she answered the questions smartly, besides the Alamieyeseigha and boko haram question she cleverly ignored. Iweala is not the issue the issue is why are the people we elected to govern us not applying simple solution to solve problems a normal Nigerian as solution to, are they all idiot and clueless? what could be the problem exactly, is it corruption ? |

Nigeria's problems apart from the monster called corruption are: 1. Cyclical mind programming by corrupt leaders 2. Faulty cultural values and materialism 3. Lack of social and scientific thinkers That is the two cent summary of your article, dude! |
