kenpaul0: It is not the guy in the circle, a new Camo or Helmet. This photo shows a Nigerian soldier, with a Nigerian carbine with a mag from an SA-80, the British army standard rifle. The effortlessness of the whole thing highlights the inter-operabilty of NATO equipment, the efficiency of using a standardised(s) rifle across all NATO countries if an Israeli soldier(although non-NATO), a soldier from Norway, a French soldier and a Croatian soldier need replenishment they can all be supplied, ammo and mags from a British or Belgian base even if they don't use the same type of weapons. PS. I'm aware NATO countries such as Albania, perhaps Turkey, maybe Hungary use a different caliber, but on a larger scale it is quite seamless.

The Nigerian Air Force continues to prioritise the equipping, training and welfare of it's personnel CHIEF OF AIR STAFF HAILS FG FOR ITS SUPPORT TO THE MILITARY The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has hailed the Federal Government for doing all it can to encourage the Nation’s military in its fight against terror and in its bid to protect the Nation’s territory from insurgents and encroachers. Abubakar, speaking during the official commissioning of a number of projects at the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety, Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State, yesterday, thanked the Nation for giving the Nigerian Air Force all the support necessary to help it carry out its duties. The Chief of the Air Staff disclosed that the Nigerian Air Force institute of safety presently located in Ipetu-Ijesha will be relocated in its place, a new unit 209 Quick Response Group is now established in Ipetu-Ijesha. According to the CAS, the New Units is designed to be a robust and versatile unit that will enhance prompt and effective deployment of NAF Force to meet any emergency security challenges in the south-west region of the Country. He hailed the efforts of his officers and encouraged them to never lose their focus, as the lives and careers of all military personnel was all about focus and alertness. “It is my hope that these projects, which include an accommodation, would improve the livelihood of the airmen and airwomen, as well as their dependents and impact positively on the economy of the state and the nation at large, because all these are critical to the attainment of the primary goals of the administration,” Sadique said. The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Raufu Aregbesola, represented by his deputy, Otunba (Mrs.) Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, hailed the air force for finding it important to situate additional projects in the State, as he pointed out that it would provide jobs for natives of the State and inspire young people to take up careers in the force, towards protecting the Nation’s territorial integrity. Also speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour and former Chief of Defence, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin, gave the air force credit for how far it had come and urged its leadership to never lose sight of its destination and never fail in shoring up the welfare of its airmen and airwomen. 2 Likes

TrueHeart365:It's very simple. UAE'S economy is not as big as Nigeria but they can spend $15bn on defence in one year which would be probably far more than 2 % of GDP. If Nigeria spends 2% of GDP on defence , it s already $10bn but we cannot find that money because our tax revenue s are low The 2% GDP is a benchmark that means different things to different countries. If you are selling oil and don't have a large population you can do a lot of things even if your GDP s not much To reply to somebody's comment no be by force but make sure you have the mental equipment to understand the point n the first place |

patches689: And it not the JOB of a IFV. What you have with a bradly is something that is trying to be a Anti Tank vehicle, recon vechile and IFV. it may be a good Tank hunter and recon vic but it not a good IFV. I would take a CVR90 over a Bradly any time. All so I would not trust what wikpedia says. It claimed 30mm all round protection was disproven in combat when Russian HMGs pened them and BMP1. I am not say it a bad just not that good. There are far better IFVs out there. rember the job of a IFV is not to kill tanks, it to transport the infantry to the front, provide local fire support and that's it. 1 Like |

"new light armour vehicle for the armour guys" Don't think that will happen anytime soon. The SANDF have more pressing needs like finding a Samil replacement. That's why the only shot it had of being procured was if it was part of the hoefyster platform. Instead they added a 30mm for fire support. The Samil replacement is another dumb decision from the 90's we are paying for now. They should have kept the Samil production line open for low rate production to replace the worn out vehicles over time and maybe even have some sales in africa where that vehicle comes into its own. The ratel 81 will probably soldier on for a long time. That version of the Ratel takes much less of a beating ,because of its mission than a infantry or 90 version, so they should have more miles left in them. MikeCZA: 1 Like |
