Your question should be, why do the Russians still continue to field build and field more MI-35s? Why in a combat area like Syria the MI-35 continues to do most of the work despite the presence of the MI-28 and KA-52?

Because the Hind is cheap and the Russians cannot afford to lose MI-28's or KA-52's

Russia is a poor country.

Its common sense really.

Dedicated attack helicopters are used to escort UN food in places like Congo while undedicated attack helicopters are used to send terrorist to their Graves in places like Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.

Dedicated attack helicopters escort UN food in DRC because dedicated attack helicopters vanquished their enemies in one days worth of operations - unlike their non-specialized friend.

Dedicated attack helicopters were requested by the UN because their non-specialist Hind's couldent cut the mustard.

Most successful Rooivalk mission in history.

Cameramen Airforce

Actually, those Rooivalks in your picture were selected from amongst the UN arsenal (that included Hind's) to escort UN top Brass around the operational area.

UN top brass and admin's trust the Rooivalk with their lives, pity I cant say the same about the Hind.

But here, have some facts abut the Rooivalk in the DRC:

- Lieutenant Colonel Danie Bellingan, OC of 16 Squadron, said the Rooivalk is highly respected in the DRC as it is an effective and well utilised weapon, being preferential to the Mi-24 attack helicopters there.

-The three Rooivalk attack helicopters deployed to the DRC since the end of October 2013 have flown around 1 500 hours and taken part in more than two dozen combat air support missions, including several at night.

- Around 80% of Rooivalk missions in the DRC are intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR), especially reconnaissance of high threat areas where UN aircraft were previously reluctant to operate. Other common missions for the Rooivalk are convoy escort and aircraft escort – Belligan said convoys are never attacked when they are escorted by Rooivalks.

-Bellingan said that with the Rooivalk’s Night Owl main sight the United Nations for the first time had a night operations capability due to the thermal imaging camera, but Rooivalk pilots also fly with night vision goggles at night.

-The Rooivalk is better regarded in the DRC than the other attack helicopter in service with the UN, the Mi-24, partly as a result of pilot training and partly because of the Rooivalk’s superior range and endurance. Rooivalks usually attack a target first, followed by Mi-24s after a target has been marked Bellingan said the Mi-24 crews regularly ask South African pilots for advice, which means “we are doing something right. It’s quite a feather in the cap for us.” He said Mi-8 helicopters request to be escorted specifically by the Rooivalk.

Further:

-2016 was the busiest year for the Rooivalk in terms of combat, with the three aircraft deployed to the United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Monusco) firing 1 200 70 mm rockets and 11 000 rounds of 20 mm ammunition

-An idea of how busy the aircraft were last year comes from the last two weeks of December 2016, when Rooivalks engaged in combat eight times, mostly against ADF rebels in the region of Beni in the eastern DRC.

-Since 2016, Rooivalks have been self-deploying with drop tanks instead of being transferred by Il-76 transport aircraft, which necessitates partially disassembling the airframes.

There, you have all the facts.

Please, lest have a constructive and informed debate. We have here the oppertunity to learn from one another. Take it.

The reason why the aircraft carries troop is in here. You just give silly excuses.

Guys, let me tell you something. Our combatant class ships are dedicated attack ships because they're missile boats and they are of combatant class but the MEKO FRIGATE is not a dedicated naval ship as it carries alot of troops therefore putting many lives at risk during attacks.

Case closed.

I'm in my house, come and beat me.

Yes, Frigates are Frigates....

Oh! I didn't know. Please tell us what the other dedicated attack helicopters have done that the mi35/mi24 haven't achieved?

Writing long grammar won't prove you right.

The funny thing is you didn't consider why you needed 2-3 Rooivalk to escort UN food. A single MI35m would have done that with ease.

"Show me what an assault rifle can do that an SKS cant"

Jackass.

As I have shown, Rooivalks are in the DRC specifically because the Mi35 cant cut the mustard.

Also, Mi35 has sh1t range, so no, it would be a terrible escort

Unfortunately, u have being running away from the real fight. You prefer hiding under UN.

Maybe we need to know why most countries have been running away from the Rooivalk dedicated attack helicopters.

No country is willing to buy your dedicated attack helicopters cause they have no intention of escorting UN food.

Turkey and Australia were intersted... they didnt buy, but the Hind wasnt even inivited to the competition.

Look, the fact is that you guys wanted an attack helicopter, the Americans said no and then you had to settle for the hind.

Please look for a better lie. You still haven't told us what the Rooivalk have done that the hinds haven't done.

Upgrade gripen C/D to E/F? And South Africa will use 9 pilots to fly 26 Gripens.

The funny part is that you still want to increase the numbers.

All Gripen are operational.

Why do you continue to ignore this fact?

Too traumatic?

I didn't know you now train gripen pilots in Cuba and Russia.

Nothing have changed from last year bro.

We dont.

Pilots sent to Russia/Cuba are those who havent made the grade in South Africa.

Its a chance to get up to scratch and re-try selection in the SAAF.

I dont know if you have noticed but the SAAF has a habit of turning away people who turn out to be amazing pilots. This is a way of remedying this.

The Rooivalk is useless because rebel took over the city but Hinds are still useful in Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan Syria, Iraq, etc. Terrorist took over many cities in those countries but hinds did the needful.

South Africa alway running from major confrontation from Central African Republic to Sudan then Burundi and now Congo.

1. There were two tests on the day - first test was with a land based laser and it hit its target at 8km. Second with a Gripen was a miss.

2. The tests were conducted during the evaluation/qualification process - the procedure is still being developed.

The only other Helicopter/missile that can attempt such a thing is the latest Gen of Apache (which only the British/Americans have)

I saw the statement yesterday, won't there be a training phase to convert the pilots though? Anyways to my knowledge Since the inception of helicopter flying school Enugu, NAF is not experiencing any shortage of helicopter pilots.
NAF has pilots training with aero for a very long time now, recall aero operates dauphin helos as well and were incharge of flying and carrying out maintainance of these particular airframes while they were still under NNPC.
