newafricaken254: sometimes i think the unfortunate incidents of loosing weapons to terrorists is getting dangerous ,especially large caliber weapons . sometimes the situation is unavoidable and i understand that , but what bothers me is nobody is think about a solution to counter it. supposing if my defenses r failing a small syringe filled with liquid nitrogen and injected into the breech of the gun will destroy the firing mechanism completely before i withdraw. i wonder why arms manufacturers r not fail safing the weapons to prevents its misuse in terrorists hands . eg. high caliber guns firing block/body can have a small ceramic coated capsule filled with metal eating liquid as a integral part of it (all part of the gun body/piece), with a rugged 12hr time lock build in. after 12 hr if the authentication card is not used the capsule will release the acid . every 12 hour a magnetic strip based device needs to be swiped over it to re-initialize the timer. the magnetic strip will be with the platoon/squad leader etc only and in the event of retreat / defeat he will destroy the card . this can be done for the higher caliber guns easily , if the heavy calibr gun jams, u will need the deactivation card to dismantle it without destroying it. think of it like a chastity belt wrapped over the higher calibre gun and u only have the key now i go before u guys dismantle me and my idea just wait i have another idea why not have the firing pins limited to work with say 500 rounds after which it breaks, the good guys will be issued with limited pins only and in COIN warfare, generally if u have to fire more than 500 rounds in a single fire fight , it means ur fuuccked up already . even the barrels can be limited to firing 500 rounds after which it will become spaghetti ok now i run just for info south koreans have password coded manpads 2 Likes |

Odunayaw: A good thing u believe. Let's not delude ourselves about cordiality with the US. If it is we would be in the F-35 program. Obama' America did Nigeria ill. In international politics there are only interests. These interests dictate diplomacy btw states and which determines military co-operation in training, combat, assets acquisition and tech transfer. I refrain from putting too much out there but u put two and two together. He was African with Swahili antecedents (think of the reaction of some here and if u have being abroad think of the reaction of some Africans to u as Nigerian) and surrounded by the likes of Biden formerly chairman of US senate foreign committee who saw Africa as backwater (forget all the smiling in the camera when we go there). His administration had a particular disdain for Nigeria. He never visited Nigeria, Africa's most important country. Trump understands that. Infact during his call with President Buhari we are told Trump asked him how many people you have in Nigeria and he was momentarily quiet on phone when Buhari told him and he was even more shocked when told by aides Nigeria's population will exceed America' in the coming years. Trump quietly told Buhari we will give you everything you need. But guess what the knives are out again in congress and we know what sentiments is driving it, you should know. Nigeria under Buhari is waiting for no one. For him Nigeria must act the giant that it is whatever the opposition. He has and is investing massively in Nigeria' military industrial complex. So to cut the preamble and to ur question: A lot of modern armour is presently pouring into Nigeria. It is segmented. This is open source intelligence and I'll leave it here. Nigeria's defence minister Dan-Ali was in Russia and following on his heels was the foreign minister Onyema a very important factor in weapons export, all of this in the last 2 months. The Su-30++++ etc are renegotiated deals from the Jonathan years. It was never canceled. 5 Likes |

NAF COMMISSIONS PLANT TO PRODUCE OXYGEN FOR FIGHTER PILOTS AND MEDICAL CENTRES The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has commissioned a Liquid Oxygen (LOX) plant to ensure the steady supply of oxygen for use by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter pilots and medical Centres. The CAS also disclosed that the plant would enable the NAF to supply oxygen to government hospitals in Adamawa State. He made the disclosure while commissioning the new LOX plant at the NAF Base in Yola today, 10 July 2017. The idea of building the LOX plant was mooted in 2016 by Air Marshal Abubakar to solve the perennial difficulty being experienced in supplying LOX for use by NAF fighter pilots, who require it especially for high altitude operations. The plant in Yola has the capacity to produce liquid and gaseous oxygen, in addition to nitrogen, another gas needed for the maintenance of aircraft. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the CAS stated that the LOX plant had the capacity to produce 1,000 litres of oxygen every 8 hours, which is in excess of the NAF’s requirements for its air operations and for use in its medical centres across the nation. Accordingly, the CAS has directed appropriate officials to work out the modality for the supply of the excess oxygen to government hospitals in Adamawa State, including the Federal Medical Centre Yola. Air Marshal Abubakar seized the opportunity to appreciate the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, without which the project would not have become a reality. In his remarks, the Guest of Honour at the occasion, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Umaru Jibrilla Bindo, expressed joy at the siting of the project in the State. He was also full of praises for Air Marshal Abubakar, who according to him had added a lot of value to the Adamawa society. Senator Bindo further stated that he was in awe of the legacy being left by the CAS through the numerous projects being commissioned to enhance the operational capability of the NAF. The Lamido of Adamawa, his royal highness, Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musadafa as well as heads of military and paramilitary/security agencies in Adamawa State, also witnessed the ceremony. The LOX plant has already commenced production. DOPRI 2 Likes
