Some technical drawings of the Ratel 60 and 90. I think these were lifted from a parts handbook or something similar. 4 Likes

The view of a man obsessing about how other men look is rather gay. Maybe it's culturally acceptable in some parts of Africa to go on and on about male looks (if you're a man) BUT down south that's exclusively faggotry. 6 Likes |

ActivateKruger: What about Morocco? They've got a number of Ratels and Elands, which means we've sold them on SA equipment at some point. |

ActivateKruger: Actually the Egyptians have been good customers of our electronic stuff like EW suites etc. And stuff that goes bang like artillery shells, mortar bombs. And counter-IED systems. And REVA APCs. As for the RDM story, can only be Egypt or Algeria. Both have an existing relationship with RDM. PICS related. 1 Like

Hrmnn: We've bad relations with Morocco because we recognise the Saharawi Republic. Those Ratels were sold to them in 1993, by the Apartheid government, which always had good relations with Morocco. The Elands went to them via a circuitous route involving a Belgian company which sold them to Morocco, Senegal, Tchad etc. |

MikeCZA: He didn't bother reading the article, his own authorities admit that " If aircraft checks and repairs were done locally, Nigeria could save US$500 million annually and create up to 10,000 jobs, a June 2017 aviation seminar heard" .... Also " But John Ojikutu, a member of Nigerian aviation industry think-tank Aviation Round Table and retired Nigeria air force pilot, said that the country’s states had more pressing concerns, such as building more schools and hospitals" So, his logic is like when General Motors says they don't have facilities in your town then you post them a picture of a Chevy stripped in some warehouse with guys on overalls. 1 Like |

MikeCZA: Quite correct. There is absolutely no need for a new presidential aircraft. Especially when the current one is in robust health and the SAAF has more pressing need for those funds. I actually think VIP Transport for the Presidency should be moved out of the SAAF. If it stays, the Presidency should pay for it, instead of SAAF's operational funds. Or we go the same way as our Pommie cousins: a modular fleet like the Airbus MRTT which does RAF cargo duty, Air2Air refuelling and can be fitted with the VIP module when requested (and paid for) by 10 Downing Street. We really should not have cancelled our A400M order 1 Like

Hrmnn: A handful Ratels in service wouldn't make them consider setting up an ammo shop. I don't have the records but I think they're being happily supplied by France for that need. |
