Henry240: clear vid, didnt know pilot was captured.Or am I confusing time-scales here I.e. downed helicopter for downed alpha jet were pilot was eventually murdered? Commentary mentions name of latest UAV... |

Litmus:That's a simulation. A hypothetical scenario were an NAF pilot is captured by insurgents. The video is from the Tsaigumi. |

Henry240: Ok. Vid gave the impression that flight alone is demonstration wile vid-capture was real not reinacted. A little like testing your home-made av over yankari games reserve and capturing actual wild life. |

Frumentum: Literally around the corner from my parents house, it's along the route we take when we walk the dogs. I often wondered who lived there - with the high level of security (done on the cheap and really ugly) and the armed guards. Even when they started talking about the Saxonwald Shabeen I didn't put two and two together. More than a couple big houses with mysterious owners around those parts... Imagine my surprise when I see that house pop up in my news feed. Heck if I had known who's house it was, you bet I would have spent my university holidays training our dogs to take tactical dumps on their driveway. 3 Likes |

Lovely. Hopefully it wont be susceptible to hacking, they should have this in mind. Next step, an armed version. Henry240: |

Henry240:Nice Now IMO the developers should look to come out with a version which does not require a runway. Tactically it will be more useful then. It can be launched from truck mounted hydraulic catapult and recovered using parachute / airbags It is just my personal opinion. |

nemesis4u:A catapult launched version will be produced, i'm certain of that. This just needs to be mass produced to continue to make the project viable. 100 units of this aircraft for the Air Force, while additional versions are produced. The avionics also look very beautiful, specially referring to the multi function display. 2 Likes |

nemesis4u:With better quality 'eyes in the sky', say with the airforce grounded, how easy is it to fix guidance kits on pre existing 155mm artillery shells for precise hits on enemy targets. Is it a project with easily available off the shelf parts? Or do you think guided arty shells are a luxury? 2 Likes |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by andrewza: 11:06pm On Feb 16, 2018 |
BlackBaron: Guided shells are probably to much but improved accuracy of the guns is while with in the scope. You don't need your shells to have a accuracy to be in point meters but a spread of say 25m at 45km is more than needed. A 3 round shot now means target is dead. One American Foward controller know put it like this. 1 round to dig them out 2nd round kills 3rd makes sure. Combined with a 6 to 8 gun barrage and no BH base is save. |

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 12:36am On Feb 17, 2018 |
BlackBaron:. Guided artillery shells cost 100000+ dollars a pop , that's the minimum I believe. U fire 10 , with that money spent u can buy a artillery gun. Optimal solution will be to invest in 1.PSDA post strike damage assessment assets. 2.LORROS 3.tactical C^4I^2 system based on command information decision support system CIDSS with associated sub systems like artillery combat command and control system ACCCS , battlefield surveillance system BSS etc. And importantly get the artillery upgraded to allow it's operation with the above. I believe if u use NATO standard shells u can fit in the precision fuze but I am not too sure, u will have to verify it with OEM. Or another option u can go for is loitering munitions. Development can be initiated in-house. |

@frumentus Trying to prove/debunk this image and I keep coming up short. So could we use the combined autism of this thread to track down the original image, or ID the jammer?

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 7:36am On Feb 17, 2018 |
patches689: SANDF jammers are completely different. The conclusion that asshat reaches is BS. No proof this was a farm attack. Personally, I think it was a cash-in-transit hesit. This particular type jammer has been used in cash-in-transit heists and are illegally imported from China. A whole batch of them were recently seized in a raid on businesses in Joburg's Chinatown. http://www.702.co.za/articles/276028/signal-jammers-and-other-devices-confiscated-at-china-mall 1 Share

LTGEN:The only kind of artillery that I have seen with Nigeria military are those fed with the coordinates of the target area before shelling begins. If Nigeria Army has guided artillery shells they would have been used against BHTs. Have you seen the Vice video on BH terrorists? |

@ andrewza and nemesis4u. fair enough regarding your points. http://www.janes360.com/images/assets/423/54423/precision-guided_munitions_for_field_artillery.pdfHere's an interesting pdf about the topic. Posed the question just in the event a very precise hit is needed to avoid collateral damage especially in urban environments. Take out a dug in building, cqb or an attacking force further away with a drone above providing overview. Regarding costs, a guidance kit (The Orbital ATK Armament Systems M1156 PGK) fitted to 155 mm shells costs about $120,000.000 for 12000 units which is about $10,000 each? LTGEN:I am talking of shells similar to The American Excalibur rounds. We do not have the type unless you want to furnish us with proof.
