I wonder how hard it would be to upgrade those AAM's to Umkhonto missiles ?
The SAHV missile that it was based on was designed to swap out with Crotale missiles on the same launcher.

The Chinese missile is basically a straight up copy of the Crotale if I'm not mistaken.

I dont know if it was possible to integrat the umkhonto to the c28A . i'm sur if it was possible algerian navy should have taken the umkhonto like they did for the algerian meko A200 contract

Or maybe DENEL dont want chinese to get the umkhonto between there hands for integration on the corvet or during maintenance . this guys copy any think they got

J-10C defeats JAS39C/D with a high score in Sino-Thai joint exercise: report

Posted on September 18, 2019 by buffalo

It’s been a mystery how J-10C fighters performed in last month’s military exercise with Thailand’s JAS39C/D Gripen fighters as there’s no official information about the results, but some Chinese media channels have been reporting unconfirmed news about J-10C’s “complete victory”.

One Chinese news account reported yesterday that according to some Russian media, J-10C and JAS39C/D fighters appeared at the same time to celebrate the successful conclusion of the joint exercise, and J-10C has achieved brilliant results in this exercise. In the combat exercise, J-10C fighters defeated JAS39C/D fighters with a big score gap. And this is not surprising because the performance of J-10C is superior in terms of maneuverability and handling. However, the Western countries did not understand this, so they were very surprised when they learned of such a result.

In the simulation exercise, the super high maneuverability supported by J-10C’s canard wing layout makes JAS39C/D fighters at a loss. At the same time, J-10C’s radar and avionics systems are more advanced than JAS39C/D fighters. In middle-and long-distance battles, JAS39C/D fighters often did not find J-10C before they were locked and shot down by missiles. In the close combats, J-10C’s ultra-high maneuverability has an unparalleled advantage. The canard wing layout makes the fighter’s power very abundant, while JAS39C/D fighter has no power to fight back.

It’s quoted that a US F-16 retired pilot said on social media that he is very aware of the performance of the Gripens, so he’d take off his hat and pay tribute to J-10C for its advantages in the simulated air combats. The pilot also said that JAS39C/D fighters also have a pair of canards. Before the US military gained experience in combating canard wing fighters, they had conducted confrontation exercises with JAS39C/D.

The pilot said he faced great pressure when driving the F-16 against JAS39C/D fighters. JAS39C/D fighters are light fighters, and the radar and avionics systems were very advanced. Even if F-16’s air-to-air missiles could lock JAS39C/D fighters, the latter could get rid of them in time with super high mobility. Therefore, as J-10C achieved such a record in the actual combat against JAS39C/D fighter, this proves the superiority of J-10C performance.

According to the report, a spokesman for the White House said that the joint exercise between Thailand and China is unacceptable. This will only enhance the actual combat capability of the Chinese Air Force. The US has just signed an order for armored vehicles with Thailand, and the West should be Thailand’s choice. But from the current behavior of Thailand, it is obvious that the country has its own ideas. It is reported that in addition to the joint exercise with the Chinese Air Force, Thailand’s navy also participated in a joint military exercise between the United States and the ASEAN.

It is a Chinese source.

The J-10 recently underwent joint exercises with Thai Gripens.

The Chinese are not selling the J-10 too.

I'll wait for an official source wink I not suggesting the J-10 is not better than the Gripen it's just the article sounds very biased..... It's like when the whole SAfrican media claimed our Navy mistakingly fired at a fishing vessel during an exercise only for the German Navy to issue an official statement confirming it was in fact a German vessel that was responsible.

The SAAF wouldn't be escorting them if that was the plan grin

Let's say, the Russians are in town for business opportunities with the continent and our generals asked for the Russian military to come along.

It's just like some local men watched a cricket match and decided they could do that, so they formed a team.

I could count the numbers of sports Nigeria participate in on my fingers.

yeah I noticed while watching Nigeria play grin grin.....interesting fact is that 2 of the Canadian players actually played club cricket with me 3 years ago on an exchange program our club had with the Canadian cricket board....... Both of them played for either our 2nd or 3rd team.

Nigeria has so far lost every game, but at least their batting is quite decent so they haven't been what I call humiliated..... Just beaten by a big margin, but not humiliated.

Yaks and SUs or MIGs, no money yet.

I think a large haul of hardware financed by ECA money is coming over the next 18 months and it will make big difference to security

So the Dusit Incident and the swift reaction and resolve by security forces didn't go entirely unnoticed in the global diplomatic an IC community.

On peace and security, President Putin commended Kenya for her steadfastness in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in Eastern and the Horn of Africa region.

The Russia leader cited how Kenya swiftly and firmly dealt with the Dusit Hotel terrorist attack saying it was an indication of how effective the country's security agencies can become in dealing with emerging security threats in the country and the region.
https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2019-10-25-putin-pledges-better-kenya-russia-trade-ties-in-meeting-with-uhuru/

Indeed, we must have gotten better, I hope we will see some joint Kenya-Russia Or even Africa Russia joint training exercises in the future, from the pics I have seen on twitter, looks like most African countries attended the first Africa-Russia Summit.

pic 1 to 3 was during the bilateral meeting with the Kenyan delegation where Putin said those words. (Notice how Putin maintains strong eye contact when he is listening, thats gangsta right there, most presidents avoid making long eye contact)

Does anyone know why the Recces wear those helmets ?
I've seen pics of them wearing those back in the Bush War as well.

They look to me like Vietnam era US helmets.
The only other distinctive helmets that I know of is the Parrabats model.
