Our first goal is completing SADC and then look further afield.

Cape Town to Cairo on the east coast is easier, though I know some UK people planning a Cape Town-Morocco then across the Med to Spain.

Which of the 2 blokes in the 3rd image are you?

"Cape town - Morocco seems dangerous, how do you escape all the militants from the sahel region?".

I remember in another forum, Somalis were complaining about Kenya's decision to force all flights from Somalia to land in Wajir airstrip to be subject to search first before heading to Nairobi or Mombasa to connect to international destinations, most in that forum said they would prefer to connect to Djibouti where they wont be subjected to such measures..

In addition to the stringent security measures in place at Kenyan airports, flights from the war-torn Somalia are subject to random searches on travelers and carry-on luggage from the neighboring country where the al-Qaeda linked militants who carried out numerous deadly attacks in Kenya remain a security threat to both countries.

Also, Flights from Somalia must stop at Wajir airport to go through security checks before proceeding to Nairobi airports.

I guess its better to be safe than sorry

In times like this, we must celebrate every victory, big or small. Wins in January 2016

4 terror suspects were killed in the coastal tourist town of Malindi, including one Suleiman Mohammed Awadh, who was on the terrorist most wanted list with a $20,00Dollar bounty on his head.(Suspected of having been involved in the planing or facilitating of Garissa university attack )

NIS got wind of their whereabouts, a rental house... In an operation that took approx 7min, members from elite GSU-recce squad and also from ATPU-Mombasa were refused entrance to the rental, instead the suspects threw a grenade and open fire... The suspects din't know what hit them as recce forced there way in and cross them off from the list, unfortunately another suspect escaped with gunshot injuries in the 2am raid.

“None of the officers was injured in the incident. We had no choice but to open fire on the suspects,” said Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi.
the metal gate to the rental house

In the house, a map to a popular places around the town was found, The officers also found another map showing how to connect to Boni Forest from Malindi, a copy of the Quran and 10 newspapers with headlines on Al-Shabaab. (This goes to prove that AS and other terrorist groups in general find more strength/will to conduct more attacks when they are given front page attention by the media)

Detectives are also scrutinizing a letter recovered from the house that was purportedly addressed to suspected Al-Shabaab financiers, requesting for funds, clothing and food

Recoverd from the house

Also in Another win
Abdulfatah Twahir was arrested in a house at Malindi by a team of anti-terrorism and Recce squad officers.

A Russian-made hand grenade, two detonators, ten safe pins, chemicals for manufacturing improvised explosive devices, Jihad literature and cash in Kenya shillings, British pounds and US dollars were seized.

The detectives also recovered two passports, one belonging to a woman identified as Awadh Omar Awadh and the other to Abdallah Abdul, both from Malindi county.

The officers said Awadh holds a UK residence visa renewed in March 2009 and valid until March this year.

The passport indicates Awadh has travelled to various parts of the world, including the United Arab Emirates in 2009 and the United Kingdom in 2013.

The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit officers have contacted UK authorities to determine the authenticity of her documents.

The documents indicate she arrived at Heathrow Airport in the UK on June 31, 2013 before leaving on October 10, 2013.

COAS TOURS COLOMBIA ARMED FORCES FACILITIES
In another development, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, recently led a delegation of some senior Nigerian Army officers to major military formations and institutions of the Armed Forces of Colombia.
The visit which was the first since his assumption of office, was to offer the delegation an opportunity to inter-face with the Colombian Armed Forces on their efforts so far in resolving armed insurgency in their country and possible lessons for the Nigerian Army.
The COAS and his entourage on arrival at the Colombian Army Headquarters were received by the Colombian Chief of Army Staff, General Albert Jose Mejia, who briefed them on different categories of operations by his country’s Army, as well as drew analogy between what his country is going through and that of Nigeria.
Highlights of the brief include the 50-year war against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and other insurgent groups that have culminated in an ongoing peace talks, the deliberate effort by the Colombian military to unravel the identity of the various insurgent groups which composed of support groups, political groups, core fighting groups, leading to the decapitation of key leaders of the insurgents, the establishment of joint operations, and emphasis on civil-military cooperation to win the hearts and minds of the local population in areas where government presence were non-existent, among others.
The visit also took the COAS and his entourage to formations, military institutions, aviation unit and the engineer corps of the Colombian Armed Forces.
It will be recalled that Colombia has been battling insurgency in the last 50 years.
Consequently, the COAS visit to the country was primarily to meet minds with his Colombian counterpart on the best strategies to combat insurgency in Nigeria.

Pentagon said this week that d number of #ISIS fighters in Libya has grown to between 5,000 and 6,500 from the 3000 estimated by @UN in Nov

Anybody with half a brain will see that the centre of gravity for terrorism is shifting from syria/middle east to North Africa.

And in 6 months, it will move down south.

Boko haram will re-ignite with a vengeance

This lull should be ample time for the Nigerian military to stock up it's ordnance from tanks to planes to helics to UAVs to ammunition

Most importantly, Surge itz ground troops and train and re-configure itz offensive special operations forces

The worst in Libya has already come and has since departed. There is absolutely nothing new in the tactics boko-haram or ISIS would employ that we haven't seen before (IEDs, VBIEDs, animal borne IEDs, IEDs carried by children, rockets, 14.5mms, swamp tactics, tanks, APCs), what's new?

Arms would continue to be smuggled in the sahel region, infact there is a lot less arms to transfer now, than during the time ghadaffi was initially ousted.

No need for panicking, we are already in the right trajectory, we only need to keep improving upon our skills and properly beef up security in isolated outposts.

By the time the army's air wing comes on stream, it would be much easier to call in air support for troops.

Sensationalist articles! Did Libya suddenly get wrecked in december of 2015. They are trying to feed local audience with tales of heroism.

We also have special forces we can send to the borders with advanced weapons and ATVs.

The West should just sit down!

If only we had long-range fighter-bombers like the SU-34....... If only.

what is going on in somalia !

Al-Shabab retakes key Somalia port city of Merca

Islamist militant group al-Shabab has taken control of the port city Merca, residents say.
Merca, some 70km (45 miles) south-west of Mogadishu, is now the biggest town under al-Shabab control.
African Union forces who had held the port city for three-and-a-half years withdrew earlier on Friday morning.
The loss is one of the biggest setbacks for the African Union force in its decade-long battle against al-Shabab, analysts say.
The governor of Somalia's Lower Shabelle region Ibrahim Adam told the AFP news agency that al-Shabab secured control without fighting.

i dont know why we keep compromising our security because of somalia,we allow refugee camps like daadab to be in kenya when we know they are launching point for alshabaab terror attacks in kenya.we allow this ungrateful refugees to live in our cities where they have guts to attack us from.we should scrutinize every refugees living in kenya,i live in a neighborhood with them.even those who have relatives or husbands working abroad dont educate their kids to have formal education,we are just seeing mushrooming of madrassas (koran learning schools) .if this is the state of their security at their airports, why is it hard for alshabaab to plot a 9-11 in kenya ! they shouldn't be allowed into our air space

let me give you the reason why AMISOM troops are opting to leave some of this villages and towns, its because AMISOM is getting tired of non committed somali national army.they are ill discipled, infritrated by alshabaab, more of a militia than an army and will flee when your engaging alshabaab like in EL Adde. who are we rebuilding somali for, if they dont want to die for their own country! with the rise of somalia islamic state and clashes with alshabaab. somalia is about to become even more chaotic
